THis is my last time posting in this thread unless they just completely collapse. I am very pleased by the teams play as of late and I am especially thrilled that we beat both Spurs and Mavs. I loathe those teams, especially the Spurs and any Rockets coach that can beat both of those teams in less than a week deserves some props. He still annoys me on a personal level but as the Rockets coach I can see improvement. So he has earned my support.
Hmmm... Root Canal or Praise Van Grumpy??? Tough call, but for now, I will give credit where credit is due and say that with the additions and changes, chemistry and defensive effort have improved dramatically. As one who opposed JVG coming here, if the "turn-around" continues, I will have my crow with a little Ranch dressing please... (Having said all that, I still don't like him!! )
Giving Van Gundy credit is almost like getting a root canal but I'd still prefer it because we would be winning and we should be fair about what is causing us to win. He should get a lot of the credit when we win and he should get a lot of the blame when we lose. It's what he gets paid for.
Can that happen under JVG? The Knicks were never "elite" in the East, and it is safe to say the Rockets were not last year, and will not be this year. If Phil Jackson will take the job, you give it to him.
I'm surprised to see you after Texas Stoke destroyed you with his last post... Welcome back EDIT: I figured you'd come back after a loss
Whatever. It is called a vacation without internet access. As to the scoring, I think an 80 point and 73 point performance speak for themselves.
Like I always said, people don't like Gundy for other reasons that have nothing to do with coaching. How else would you explain the fact that EDC doesn't know Gundys record in the East or the fact that he won 57 games there and advanced past the 1st round every year except his last? But whatever. Have a Bud and a smile, Gundy!
I am all for firing JVG as long as he uses Yao like Cato. Yao used as Cato => 2005 Houston Rockets = 2004 Orlando Magic. It's a waste on everybody's time.
I know Van Gundy's record plenty adequately. One good season riding Pat Riley's coattails, one "eighth to finals Miracle," and five (going on six, counting the strike year) full seasons with only one approaching 50-wins (.609).
How convenient you come back to the BBS the night of our first loss then! Psssst... you never responded to his post. It's pretty obvious you have been wrong all along in your stance on what JVG wants, the least you could do is admit that and move on whine about other things.
Well, JVG will not be fired easily since he still on a long term fat contract, Les is a poor guy among all NBA bosses, he can not take the loss for firing JVG. He has no money to hire P.J too.
