I wasn't whining - I am very seriously glad you all aren't polluting the other threads with random hate for JVG. I am indifferent, but to the haters, erything is a negative about JVG. So, if you believe that, its fine... STAY HERE and HATE AWAY
This is ridiculous - after a win, the so-called JVG lovers call out the haters. After a loss, the opposite happens. That's why this thread is always around. Maybe both sides need to comment more on long-term trends, because this thread now sucks. What happens if the Rockets are under .500 at the end of the month, since this is supposed to be a tough January? Will LongTimeFan and Fegwu stop their taunting? What if they're above .500 and get back into the playoff race?
I'm not taunting. When we win, I don't bring this thread backup like others have done when we lose. I'm sorry if you feel this thread is a waste now -- I've tried to offer backing and noted improvement in the majority of my post. This should have been a discussion about his methods, and it should have changed over time since it has been created. Some people refuse to see the change, and still spew the same garbage. But from me, it has been anything but taunting.
Thanks, I think. Incidentally, I don't hate JVG. I just didn't like the choice, don't think he's much better than average as an NBA head coach, and think the Rockets deserve one who has won a championship. Maybe that could be classified as being "a hata" (to use the vernacular), but I don't even really think that is the case. Oh, yeah, Willis and his repetitive gifs/jpegs are easily as annoying as ROckets03.
Just to clarify. I dont hate Van Grumpy as a person either. I think he would make an excellent assistan coach. I almost felt sad for the idiot after making him cry during the infamous "Fire Gundy" game. And I admit that the Rockets have been slightly playing better lately. Easiest month of our season and we still didn't do that well...but eh.... My two main beefs with Van Dumpy are that a player like Tmac has to tell him to change his system. A coach should adapt to the players he has without the players actually having to tell him. Other thing is that he took our young team and has tried to turn them into the old time Knicks. We are freakin old! We don't have one player besides Yao and Tmac that deserves to start. And he is the one that brought in all of those players. I want Van r****d fired, but if the Rockets start doing well with him then I am not stupid enough to want him fired anyways. Nothing personal. I just think he SUCKS!
Admit it, you actually like the guy. You just started this thread so you can come up with names to call him
(NOTE: Tonight was my 21st birthday and I am soooooo wasted right now. In fact Im so wasted that I'm not even writing this. I am currently passed out and my friends collaborated on writing the following. So please do not ban me, pity me. If I ever awake from my druken stupor, I will surely wreak havoc amongst my friends) Why not? We need a REAL power forward. Karla is PERFECT for us. He's so driven. He likes hunting for "little Mexicans girls," too, right? Houston is full of 'em! I was comparing my 1988 cincinnati reds karl malone rookie card to my cracker jack box 1972 yao ming miniature figurine. the card is bigger, thusly, karl moloaanoalonaloney is better. erego, wait. what about yao for beltran? carlos? excellent. I really like baby carrots. i am a small man so when i eat baby carrots, i feel bigger. also, baby corn. no but seriously, what happened to lue? i miss him. he reminded me of the story of that one reindeer, who all the other reindeer hated. this took place many moons ago on the desert island of the north pole. But one summer day, kris kringle asked this young reindeer to fight the incoming robot army. and he did, he fought his heart out. like ty-ty lue-lue. it was awesome. i have his 1873 Dallas Stars rookie card. the one with the hologram foil and wood chip of his basketball bat. van gundy. he's not doing too good of a jorb. i don't trust him much at all. i say we get rid of him, too. for.. john madden. his insightful commentary in his video games pretty much guarantees that he knows what hes doing in the sports world. think about it. everytime yao turns the ball over, we have someone saying, "He was thinking about the touchdown before he made the catch." i'm also tired of the toyota center. I think we should remodel the building to resemble that giant crouching cat from THUNDERCATS! and the rockets can save the day in their tour bus which would exit from a raised paw/garage at the front of the center. no but seriously. what about artest? for stephen PhRaNChyZ3!!!! lolololomgbbqwtfomgtmacsucksrfolmao.
I would love to see the Rockets beat the hapless Lakers tonight and start a win streak. That said, I would also guess that if there is indeed a win versus L.A., the team will find a way to start a new loss streak. Either way I feel that JVG, playoffs or not -and especially if "not"- will not be around after next season if not sooner. When it all is said and done, I never hated JVG, but he is turning out to be much less than the expected leader he was touted as. In my opinion he is just not a right fit for our city, much less our team. The city of Houston never gets behind a deadpan coach that seems to just give the same repeated excuses. He is way too NY for the south-minded, yee-haw, types that fill the upper seats (and I include myself there). On that note, I find that a coach that opens up the pace and lets a team run and gun would get more fan support and better results from the team, given that fan support, in a southern city such as Houston. In a state full of "football city, USA's" fans want to see points, points and more points. In Dallas and San Antonio they seem to know this. Especially in Dallas, where they market "Full Throttle" and the like. JVG is much, mucj too laid back and defense minded for the fans to appreciate him here. In Houston, remember, the "Run-n-Shoot" was more popular than a ground game in football. The 93-95 Rockets also "lived and died by the three" on many occassions. I feel that "lived and died by the three" is not anything you will ever hear out of JVG's mouth unless he is describing the team that just beat his team. Perhaps he should be fired to spark fan interest. Either way I feel his days are numbered here barring a miracle attitude adjustment reflected in the team and in performance on the court. Currently it all looks very "matter of fact" and not very urgent. When a team loses its direction, it is the leader's fault.
As much as I don't like JVG's style, I believe you have to have a firm control of the players/plays in order to win consistently. Loose the leash, let TMac run free, Sura run wild might win a few games, please a few fans since the game will be more entertaining, but it won't win big in this league. Look at the teams have won in the last decade, the Pistons, the Lakers, the Spurs, and the Bulls, all of them had a good & sound system in place, and they all played with discipline. You know what to expect from them each and every night, but they still beat you with the execution. JVG cannot give up just because a few players, or the fans are not happy about his style/system, he needs to stick to his plan, ride it out. (did I just try to set JVG up, so we can fire him after this season?
