    Thats ignorant.

I would trade ten lottery seasons for 1 championship. Thats what the NBA is about not if you can avoid the lottery.

10 lottery seasons and 1 championship season is greater than 50 play off seasons and no lottery seasons with out a championship.

    Rudy T. 2

    JVG 0

I hope you are not comparing Sloan and JVG. JVG is no hall of fame lock...not by a long shot. Hopefully someday we can all say JVG of the Houston Rockets is a Hall of fame coach but that day is a long way off.

It was official long before this thread.

    Rudy T + Hakeem = 2

    JVG + Ewing = 0

    It's more than just coaching.

I don't give a damn what it is. To somehow try to discredit Rudy T just plain sucks.

Chaney could not do it with Dream. Hell Chaney missed the play offs with Dream and please don't talk about supporting cast because Rudy T won it all twice with two different supporting casts for Dream.

IMO Rudy T was the absolute perfect coach for that team. He adapted to the players he had. To me that what great coaching is all about. Maybe just for a few seasons but I'll take that any day.

JVG has never been know for adapting to his players.

It just plain sucks to here a Rockets fan try and discredit the accomplishments of the most successful coach in the history of our franchise.

You can make the same argument about every coach that ever won a championship so unless you want to discredit ever coach that ever won a championship then you should back off of Rudy T.

Close to .600 in the regular season and above .500 in the playoffs = at least above average

Thanks, that is kind of like Jeff Van Gundy calling someone "chipper."

That is the whole point. Until he proves otherwise, Jeff Van Gundy is no better than an average NBA head coach. The Rockets deserve a championship head coach.

I was using Sloan as an example to show how edc's credentials are just flat out stupid. Sloan will go down as one of the greatest coaches ever, and yet edc says he's not that good just because he never won it all? That in itself is silly. I guess Malone will never be one of the best PF's in edc's mind, just an average one, using that logic.

I wasn't trying to discredit Rudy more than I was trying to side with JVG. It's not fair for someone to come in here and say, "Rudy won 2 championships, JVG had none" Rudy also had one of the best players to ever play the game. You can't just discount that and say it was all Rudy. Yes, Rudy was a good coach for that team and deserves some credit for those two championships. But he also had one, and on the second, two hall of famers of all time. PJ never won anything after MJ retired. Players make a huge difference.

I seem to recall him winning three more championships.

With Shaq and Kobe. I thought it was pretty obvious I was referring to the Bulls, but I guess not.

No they don't, because I was specifically talking about the seasons he was with the Bulls and Jordan retired. But thanks for coming out!

When is this thread going to end. And now with Francis speaking his mind I'm sure will here all the Jeff Van Dummy Lovers coming out of the closet and screaming how unfairly he got rapped by meanie Stevie.

You know however, Steve and Orlando are Playing better and Tmac and the Rockets are playing worst. Jeff Van Stupido you're the weakest link.

I think you have that backwards, check the "recent" records of both. Rockets headed North; Magic headed South.

That makes absolutely no sense - why would you even bring up the two seasons when the greatest Basketball player ever was retired and not count the seasons with the Lakers. Looks to me like you're trying to manipulate the stats to get them to say what you want.

Look the bottom line is that JVG isn't even good enough to hold Jackson jock strap so don't even try to compare them or even Rudy for that matter, but feel free to compare JVG to Sloan as much as you like.

No you are backwards last year the Rockets also played the Jazz their first game in January and won making their record 18-14 (one could argue that this record is the result of residual coaching of Rudy T, with JVG not having enough time to damage them) and that's with a younger inexperienced Yao, this year after their 1st game in January with a much more experienced Yao, one of the top five players in the league and rid of 2 cancers, Francis and Cat , and they are 15-15. That makes the Rockets worst off so far.

THis year without the best player on their team the Magic or 15-13 and Francis Numbers are at an all time high. Last year after 28 games with Tmac the Magic were 7-21. You can argue all you want but the fact is the Rockets or worse compared to last year at this time and the Magic are considerably better. And again the weakest link id Jeff Van Dummy!
