It's ironic but aren't the Rockets one of the better 3 point shooting teams in the NBA this year which would suggest there IS decent ball movement , but the lack of any semblance of a fast break and no rebounding is discouraging. Defense and 3 point shooting are the only strengths at this point and who is to say we have the personnel to run the triangle anyway? I don't like JVG's lack of offensive production and his slow down half court system but I do like the fact the the Rockets long history of being good behind the 3pt line is still being preserved. That's the only positives that I can see right now but we don't have the personnel to expect so much so soon after such a major roster overhau l (no 4 who can band and clean the glass and no point)

This, is gonna take some roster movement to remedy IMO.

Actually the rockets are 21st in the league in 3 point shooting. Not exactly lighting it up. We need another shooter on this team. At the very least Boki needs to get more playing time.

Just checking in to see if there has been any progress on the fire JVG bandwagon?

Realistically, we should have one of those JVG About to Be Fired Meters.

    Scale of 1 - 10, firing coming soon = 10, doing perfectally fine = 1

    I say we're at a 4, unfortunately.

we need players with confidence in thier shots anda new additude.I watched the sonics and you can tell from body lanuage that they are very confident shooters,I think it starts with the coach though and I don't think jvg is the right man.

Iam a HUGE rockets fan. have been since I was like 9. Im 23 now, since I have been a rocket's fan I have either watched on TV, been too, or recored every game since I was 9 yrs old. BUT, I HATE Van Gundy basketball so much in the last 2 seasons I havent even watched 45 games.

If anybody in the front office has eyes to read, hears to ear and brains to comprehend, please PLEASE release us from the prison of Van Gundy ball.

Yes our role players are pitiful. But if you give Rudy T; Cassel (rookie) Robert Horry, Vernon Maxwell, Scott Brookes, Matt Bullard, Mario Elie and Carl Herrea and OT. And Rudy will win a championship. What? Which of those players stood out as exceptional? Maxwell.....good. But a head case.

Sam was a rookie. Herrera? He wasnt great.

My point is they had one GREAT player. and some par to sub par role players and they took the title.

undy has 2 great players. Either one capible of pulling off 30+ point performances.

Same amount of par to sub par role players and he cant even score over 80 points aginst a HORRID defensive team....Dallas.

Give us anyone....BUT Van Gundy is bad for the NBA. It is 'Ball Hitlers' like him that is killing this League's excitment.

Let the chants ring forth allover this great city FIRE VAN GUNDY! FIRE VAN GUNDY! FIRE VAN GUNDY!

If they lose to the Hawks again everyone at the TC should be chanting that.

This thread will look more and more idiotic as the days goes by. No hard feeling towards the starter but just stating the inevitable.

That is why I love bandwaggons - they are always big enough to take as many people on board. Those who come on earlier get to sit in the first section (i.e better sits and service).

Nope. The Rockets will have to show a better than Astros turnaround to make this thread go away. 52 wins still looks very unlikely, and that (to me) is the minimum number of victories JVG needs to keep his job.

Will a 10 game win streak or 12 wins out of 13 do it for you?

So only a .700 winning% the rest of the way secures JVG's job for next season?

    Wow. Talk about high standards.

Before the season I said if they didn't beat 51 victories it would be underachieving, and changes would be necessary. I see no reason to change my mind.

12 out of 13 (8 consecutive victories from here) would barely put them back on track. 52 wins on the season. 42-18 the rest of the way, or JVG must go come May.

IF JVG changes his coaching ways and we turn it around this season then I don't think it would be a slap to all the "JVG bashers" faces, he would do what we have wanted all along.

You wouldn't want the coach to return after a 40-20 finish? Why?
Who would you want to replace him?

Actually, I think ROckets03 deserves credit any way u look at it. If the Rockets play good, its because JVG changed his system, and part of it has to do with the boos from the crowd, and chants from the crowd (mostly Rockets03), and if they continue to suck it up, the chants will get louder and eventually lead to his firing.....so any way u look at it props to Rockets03

I believe I've answered that. Anything less than 52 wins on a team anchored by Yao and T-Mac, and the Rockets are underachieving. The fact they wasted a quarter of the season playing like an expansion team does not change that fact.
