Sure, CD should take some of the responsibilities. In theory, GM should be the decision maker and trade executer.

But for the Rox, the case is different. My general impression is CD likes to take backseat on roster moves and let head coach choose which players he wants, and CD will then execute the trade or FA signing. He actually did a good job doing that. You can see the current Rox team has JVG’s imprints all over it. Basically, you can say JVG got the player he wanted. So after two and half seasons with major roster changes, some pieces are still missing, some don’t fit, others fall apart and the team are in a disastrous situation, I will feel perfectly proper to question JVG and evaluate if he is the one should be removed.

Those improvements would have been made w/o the help of JVG. Actually I strongly believe (yes, my opinion) that JVG has hindered some of the players' growth. Also, I don't believe the JVG haters jumped on the bandwagon during his winning streaks. It's just that there's no point to making a case when you're winning--nobody will really listen.

I've said this once and I'll say it again, a coach's job isn't limited to on-the-court production of your starters. There are many aspects of the game that are part of the coach's responsibility: team chemistry, player development, public relations, etc. Another forgotten responsibility is dealing with players missing in action (whether it be injuries, suspensions, etc).

Rick Carlisle is a great coach. I've always liked his work. Last season after more than half his starters were suspended, followed by a slew of injuries towards the end of the season, Carlisle was still able to lead his team to the second round of the playoffs. JVG couldn't pull a win out of his ass in 13 games w/ just 1 starter missing.

It's easy to hide behind aging and injured players. But the true greatness coach is tested when faced with real difficulty. And put simply, JVG has not measured up.

Gundy is too stubborn to do that for a few games. At this point what do we have to lose?

I wonder what you dudes are going to be thinking at the end of this month when you look at the schedule and see that the Rockets have won 12 games in a row. Wait. No. I don't care.

*sigh*. Even should such a miracle happen, they would still be at least three games under .500, and several games out of the 8th spot.

However, best case scenario, with everyone healthy, Mr. Van Gundy is unlikely to beat the Lakers, Clippers (twice), and Suns (twice) at better than a .500 clip.

Your jock riding of Rick Carlise and his one mesmerizing playoff series victory has blinded you to the fact that Rick Carlisle is suffering the exact same fate this year as the coach of the Houston Rockets. Rick Carlisle's team, because of a recent string of injuries, has lost 9 out of the 10 games. What proof more do you need than right there that if your team is hit with the injury bug, and hit hard with it, you are going to struggle. Look man, JVG can take the Houston Rockets to the top, and he will, just a have a little more patience.

You really need to learn how to count.

The Indiana Pacers have lost 5-straight, but they went 3-2 in the previous five, meaning they only lost 7 of the last 10. They are also an even 21-21 on the season.

Make it 6 straight losses with tonights loss, Doogie Howser. That makes 8 losses out of the last 10 games and a 21-22 record for Mr. Carlisle's Pacers.

Phil and the Lakers are on right now, mister doogie.

You hobos just don't get it!

Its Gundys fault that we got 9/11! Who else was coach of the Knicks back then?

    Dummies.

He suffered a similar win/loss record after the suspensions last year. It took him a few games, but did manage to get it going. I expect the same this time around.

Just a speculation, but I strongly believe that Saunders & Larry Brown would have done much better with the Rockets than JVG. Likewise, I don't believe JVG will do better with the Pistons/NYK than Saunders & LB (yes, even the NYK).

    That's fair enough.

I don't like too many NBA coaches. Pops seems good at SA.

I am a JVG supporter, not fan.

I do like TMac and Yao- like to see us really upgrade the talent around them this offseason- at least one more scorer and some more defense in the post.

I do love JVG as an interview though, the dry humor gets me. :)

Okay so Van Gundy gets a free pass forever because he led a Knicks team to the Finals like 2000 years ago?

    Forever?

NO. You think Larry Brown is enjoying his stay in NYC? He throws his players under the bus on a NIGHTLY basis. The revolt is already starting. And yet, he would be better here? Sure. I wonder how T-Mac would llove a coach like that.

Every expert says that Gundy is a hell of a coach with potential to be great. This year, he is dealing with Injuries more than any other team. The team is still fighting like dogs for every win. No quit at all. Coaches who don't have their players ear would of had their players lie flat on the ground and get ran over.

And yet, the fans who are still on the Rudy T. bandwagon and who seem to hate the fact that he is a New Yorker want him out. Like I said, the Civil War ended a while back, I believe.

If we suck next year, I feel that I gave him enough chances. I will then start my own damn thread. But at least I can say I was fair.
