You forget Starting SF - McGrady He hasn't bothered to show up today, either* *if he's playing hurt, I take that back.
I think its a combination of being hurt, being depressed by all the injuries, constant triple teams by Toronto and not showing up angry enough.
Eh? Yeah, he's had a lot of double teams (haven't seen that many triples). But a truly excellent 2-3 should be able to beat those much more than Tracy has tonight. I wouldn't be shocked if he's still hurting...but if healthy, he's been terrible and lazy (for him).
Add moochie norris(apparently) If TMac's injured, he shouldnt play. The more excuses, the better. Yall dont get it. TMac and Yao is one of the best duos in the nba. We are automatically a great team. JVG cant add to that greatness though. He makes it worse if anything.
Oh...I am definitely not off the Fire Gundy wagon. I don't think he is a bad coach. But he is not great either. I would rank him as slightly below average.
You don't get it. It's not just Yao who is out now and it's not just Tmac who was out then. Most coaches use a 8-10 man rotation. The Rockets have 6 rotation guys out. As much as you seem to want to discount the fact that more than half of the team is down and out with injuries and has been throughout the season, you can't. It's a players league, if you don't have the players, you can't win in this league, jvg has admitted as much. face it man, when you are missing 6 rotation guys, this is what happens. No coach could do a better job with what jvg has to work with right now. I don't understand how a houston rocket fan could pile on this team or coach right now, if they do, it shows how weak you are. critics have no legitimate right to gripe bout the coach or players under these circumstances. to understand how tough it's going to be to win with 6 rotation players out with injuries is not making an excuse, it's a fact.
When we went 0-8, this roster wasnt too deep, but it was decently deep. We had one guy out(a few more you could say, but teh rockets have proved they can live without them when TMac is here), and couldnt win any games. The offense is why we loose games right, but there is enough offensive depth on this team. Stro, JHo, Head, Moochie, DA many guys on this team are proven offensive talent. JVG doesnt want to incorporate that idea into the team. The high number of injuries isnt why we are loosing games. Its only two injuries, Yao and TMac. Put Yao on the team, take out even 2 guys, this team will bbe great.
Mr. Van Gundy is responsible for bringing in older, injury-prone players. Those player-personnel choices result in seasons like the one the Rockets have had to date.
he is responsible for bringing in tmac who had a bad back...do u think that was a bad decision?....and the older players he brought in dont really have a big role on our team anyways...its just so many went down with injuries
NO NO NO your wrong!!! It is the GM who is responsible for bringing in players. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken droppings. Get your facts straight.
T-Mac, Yao and Alston are all young and relatively injury free players and all have been/are currently injured. Deke has been one of the best and healthiest backup centers in the league since he's been with us. Every team has to deal with injuries... This team showed they could handle a few (Sura, Barry, Alston, then DA). But when they start piling up, and you start adding guys to that list that have remained relatively healthy during their careers and their tenure with Houston, blaming the coach is not only misdirected, but a cheap shot. But given your well known opinions, I suppose JVG could have brought in fully healthy, athletic and youthful players, and still he would have been blamed for their injuries because HE selected these players. S**t happens that sometimes can't be explained...and we're in a whole big pile of that right now. So instead of blaming a coach who is trying his hardest to get the most out of a decimated team, why not just cheer for said team, players and coaches. They'll get through the storm, and when they do, they'll be better for it.
Why do you keep saying this? Injuries Player Date Injury Y. Ming C Dec 18, 2005 Left big toe surgery - out 2-3 weeks D. Mutumbo C Dec 19, 2005 Dislocated finger D. Anderson GF Dec 15, 2005 Strained right calf - out 2 weeks J. Barry SG Nov 27, 2005 Bruised left foot R. Alston PG Nov 19, 2005 Slightly fractured fibula B. Sura G Nov 22, 2005 Herniated disk, out indefinitely If you are saying the two injuries to Yao and Mcgrady are the only ones that matter I don't understand that. This is a team sport. One or two guys going down a team can handle, three gets tougher, but six guys out, you can't sugar coat that. When Yao was healthy Mcgrady was out. When Mcgrady and Yao were both healthy for a short time, the Rockets have been good to really good to great at times even without four of their better perimeter players playing during that time. That is a fact. Now Mcgrady is healthy and Yao is out along with his backup and our perimeter players which makes 6 rotation guys who are out. So when you say it's just two injuries that we are dealing with, I don't know if something is wrong with your eyes or mind or what.
The point is, Mr. Van Gundy DID NOT bring in "fully healthy, athletic, and youthful players." He followed his pattern. The fact older guys are more likely to break down is a surprise to no one. Indeed, it would be more of a surprise if the majority of the Rockets' "inactive" list weren't filled with real injuries.
Then maybe the solution is to get a real GM... not one that is simply a figure-head, as the head coaches are really the ones making all the roster moves. Carroll Dawson went from giving out big-time contracts to horrible players (aka - Rudy decisions), to settling for marginal role players who can or cannot make a difference (aka - JVG decisions). It happens all the time... the coach is stripped of the GM duties, and is strictly dedicated to coaching the team he's got. Unfortunately, JVG doesn't have GM in his title, so you can't strip him from it. I think if we had a GM who had some actual power, you might see a better put-together roster. A head coach has too many problems to worry about as is, along with being the sole assembler of the entire team.
Watching Rox games now is such a pain! I know it's hard to find a great new coach. But it's really annoying to see JVG in this team. Let him go now!
Unfortunately CD's contract just got extended, so did JVG's. So basically Rox are stuck with them long term. Maybe Les should get replaced for not pursuing Phil Jackson when he was available.
