Click did give him a lights out bullpen. The games were essentially over after the 6th inning after Click made deals at the trade deadline. What Dusty did get right was letting LMJ take one for the team to save the bullpen during the WS.

 

Well it’s just that he let Click walk in favor of Dusty, and then Dusty wore out his welcome the very next season. A lot of that has to do with the horrible job he did in 2023 and also because of his open defiance of the new GM.

Dusty has worn out his welcome at every stop. Ask the fans of past teams he’s coached how they feel about him. They all are glad he’s gone.

The only reason you want him here is because you are a racist.

Flags fly forever but in hindsight it might have been nice not to keep pitching an injured McCullers there. Dude threw his last pitch in that series and may never pitch again. I still think any manager could have managed that series and that bullpen to a title.

I'm just saying, for Espada's first season as a manager who having dealt with the BS injuries and TJ surgeries, he did just AS good (if not better than DB did) with a fully HEALTHY STAFF AND BALLCLUB BUILT FROM THE FOUNDATION UP.
Some of you clowns choose to consciously discount that DB had the pitching staff (as a whole) & players & voice of a retiring manager who needed to pop one off-- over the past 5 years was the healthiest it's been since the 17/18/19 seasons... he was handed the org/roster on a silver platter.
Some of yall fail to do a relative analysis of pitchers on roster vs pitchers available vs pitchers IR'd / sent to the orthopedic surgeoun.
Some of yall clowns need to look at players available.
All things considered & even 1st round exit, Espada was just as good as the MLB-forced hire after Hinch left.

And if all things equal, I'd have Hinch, Espada, Pettis, Cintron, Lopez, Bracamonte, Putita, Elias/Gross back ANY losing or winning season before I had the '22 WS championship's managerial/coaching/staff back.
