The worst offense in the league. They went 57 minutes against the worst defense in the league last week and had 9 ****ing points. You knew Monday night was going to be a blood bath and thats exactly what it was I just don't see how he gets a pass from the media in this city.
Haha sure you buy that story? Bill O'Brien's henchmen working hard. Both Bobby and Ricky should be fired for this atrocious decision and waste of two years
I honestly feel really bad for you Texan fans. This is beyond embarrassing and all of the sports shows are completely trashing the organization. East coast to west coast. They are the joke.
The failures of the offense are not the only major problem that O'Brien seems unwilling or unable to address... how long do we continue with a special teams approach that is so broken. The Texans would be better off letting every punt and kick drop than have the returners they put out there on a weekly basis. And the return team failures only exasperates the problems with the offense by putting a woefully bad QB deep in a hole time and time again.
has nothing to do with national television itself. has to do with playing good teams (which are usually on national television) and our record against good teams is awful. that's why texans as a franchise is viewed, has a stigma, of a perennial disappointment. can never take the next step for a period of time. we don't exactly suck and get made fun of for it. instead we are a letdown and that pisses everyone off.
Weak ass organization that only has the upper levels of management to blame. A weak owner hanging onto a weak GM who is only good at drafting weak players, coached by a weak blowhard. I'll still watch, but my emotional investment in this garbage franchise is zero'd out.
The next step isn't even winning, it's acting like they give a damn/prepared a damn in losing efforts. Making a Texans game nationally televised almost ensures that it's not even gonna be a watchable football game for the neutral football fan.
I wholeheartedly believe this. I remember the Brock signing as one not yielding much excitement/reaction/compliments from BOB. He seemed indifferent and said that he only watched him play a few times. I don't think BOB wanted to go with Brock from the get go. The Brock signing to me falls on Rick Smith/McNair. The continuous coaching shitshow falls on OB. All parties are responsible. I still can't believe Dallas picked up a franchise qb just like that.
Which is why aside from the Houston-Beaumont-Port Arthur areas, the Texans are an afterthought in this state. Well, at least they are keeping alive the tradition of the Houston Oilers.
I don't think mid-season firings are useful; you're basically promoting someone who will maintain SOP. But in terms of firing O'Brien... I mean, what's the case for keeping him right now? His teams are routinely outplayed by good teams and his franchise QB is a mess. We all should have expected some bumps and bruises... but we also should have expected incremental progress. Osweiler is full-on regressing. Worse, he's making the same mistakes over and over and over again.... forcing balls to Hopkins, throwing uncatchable fastballs on short routes; his internal clock hasn't slowed down and it may have sped up. He's just a mess right now.
I don't buy this at all. I think OBrien is trying to change the narrative. And he hasn't exactly shown good judgment on QBs before this anyway. Bill O'Brien Comments on How Brock Osweiler Fits with Texans By Mike Norris, Chief Writer Mar 22, 2016 Houston Texans signed former Denver Broncosquarterback Brock Osweiler to a four-year, $72 million contract in the offseason, and head coach Bill O'Brien gave his thoughts on the 6'7", 240-pound signal-caller on Tuesday. “We felt like he was a guy that everything that he brought to the table from his command at the line of scrimmage to his skill set as a passer," O'Brien said at the NFL owners meetings, per Deepi Sidhu of the team's official website. "For a big guy—I’m sure you guys know his history, he played basketball—he’s a very, very good athlete. We think he’s a great fit for our offense.” All these comments were despite the fact that O'Brien officially met Osweiler for the first time at the 25-year-old's introductory press conference, per Sidhu. However, in today's technological world it's easy for coaches to get their hands on game film, and that is exactly what O'Brien and general manager Rick Smith did. After poring through film that included Osweiler's college career, the head coach said two performances stood out, according to Sidhu. "I thought the New England game was one particular game that stood out to me because they were really in coaching lingo, getting after him. They were hitting him and he was delivering the football and getting right back up and calling the next play. One of the main requirements for a quarterback in this league is the ability to stand in there when everything is flying at you and take a hit and deliver the ball." [...] In the Raider game, Khalil Mack must have hit him, I don’t know, eight to 10 times in that game? He stood in there, delivered the ball. Maybe statistically it wasn’t his best game but to someone who’s been coaching that position for a while and has really studied it, that means a lot to us. That's all fine and well, but what about how he would fit in the clubhouse? Reports surfaced that the main reason Osweiler did not return to Denver for next season was because he was "upset" that future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning replaced him in Week 17 when he returned from injury, per Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson. O'Brien said he vetted Osweiler through those who knew and coached him previously, per Sidhu. "I know there’s a lot of people that have coached him throughout the years that I’ve personally known so I’m sure he spoke to those guys. We spoke to those guys. That was one thing that stood out to me about him was everyone we spoke to, that was either a coach or teammate, couldn’t say enough good things a about this guy. That he was a good leader, a hard worker, a guy that really cared about his teammates, everything we’re looking for in a quarterback. So now, he’s just got to come in here and do it." Joel Klatt of Fox Sports was not impressed with the quarterback who threw for 1,967 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions in seven games as a starter last year. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...mments-on-how-brock-osweiler-fits-with-texans
I dont think a midseason firing should or would happen. But RAC would be a ready made interim QB. The defense has been the one consistently solid part of the team these past 3 years. It had a lot of talent but RAC has kept it and built on it.
