Jose Abreu has 26 RBIs since June 1st, batting .290 with almost .500 SLG%.

He also bats .279 on the year with RISP (42 RBIs) and .420 with 4 HRs and 30 RBIs with 2 outs and RISP.

Yeah Abreu has an >800 ops since 6/1 over 141 pa. Pretty clear he has at least somewhat righted the ship and should be a viable middle of the order bat thru this season at least. At his age tho every year will be a crap shoot.

"Why does Dusty keep using players we don't want to see?"

The one constant on this BBS is that most will continue to perpetuate the fallacy of selling low and buying high… and this is exactly what we all make fun of other teams for doing.

I admit this is interesting but still it’s flawed when using it as a rationale for sitting a player after a great game. The data shows the next five games after a five game heater are roughly about that player’s average for the year…which isn’t bad.

Within the article itself - “there is no denying that there are hot and cold streaks in baseball” - so it admits there is such thing as a heater. That brings the question of how do we know when the hot streak is ending?

Finally, I’m sure there’s data out there, but the true answer lies within how an off day impacts a player performance - particularly if a player has been in a slump does it help but also if a player has been playing well. If so, that’s my argument for basing their off days around recent performance.

I never complained about Julks. I have complained about Meyers over Chas. As with everyone else on this board and Dana Brown, I complained about Diaz’s lack of usage in April and May. Looks like everyone besides Dusty saw that one.

Which brings me to my point of playing your best players as much as often given the division might come down to a few games.

This isn’t a usual year for us where we are out in front by double digits and have the luxury of not putting our best lineup out there as often as possible. We clearly are both in agreement playing in the wild card round would be a huge disadvantage for this team.

That wasn’t my point. I know he’s been better.

Good answer, because his win shares just went up with that 2 out, 3 run HR ;)

I am sorry but a manager blowing leads like this multiple times a month is not providing the proper leadership.

I would say if players come back healthy (Altuve, Yordan, Urquidy), the Astros win the division going away. If they don't, they are f-ed regardless.
I just thinkthe Astros philosophy is they are not going to sacrifice their October potential to push harder in the regular season, at least not until needed (ie, they are behind by a larger number of games or get into September).

This game pushed me to the fire Baker camp. Was previously on just limit his decision making authority..

Fire someone on his staff, that'll do it. Baker told Cincy "you might as well fire me, too." So they did.

I didn't see the game. Why did Dusty allow Pressly to throw 32 pitches in one inning?

It is best to also avoid gamecast.

Essentially once it was tied... save Maton?

Pressly pitched yesterday. He probably wasn't going to pitch tomorrow anyway, but once he threw 20 might as well let him throw whatever maximum they have for him. Likely 35. Because he is officially out tomorrow.

    Pressly got very unlucky.

Ohtani's HR would only be a HR in 10 stadiums.

Then a ground ball hit inches away from a 6-3 ground out.

A ground ball that hit the mound and jumped over Pena's head or it could have been a 6-4-3 DP.

A passed ball by Maldy allowed a run to score.

It's just a game to forget about.

Why didn't Dusty just shake Framber's hand and send him to the showers after 6 innings and a 6 run lead after the extended inning caused an unusual long break between innings for him?

Why didn't Dusty PH for Maldy w/ 2 runners on in the 9th? If he does that Diaz catches the 9th inning and maybe it's a totally different outcome.
