In all of these years Dusty hasn't won a championship. I suspect this year wont be different. Although Click hasn't done Dusty any favors.
Think the Astros are about right. The team has shown they aren't as good at the plate without the crutch, so expectations have to be lowered from where they were before he took over, and the pitching staff has the talent to be slightly above average as is, and that's were they are. We add two aces and the Astros are playoff worthy. So for me he's got them where I would expect them to be. He likely still needs one player to even have a chance to push over the top. Bottom of the lineup still sucks tho'. He has got to hold them accountable as they can't even hit .200 and that's just not acceptable. Changes must be made. Not ready to fire yet.
It is painful to watch. Handing over the keys to a Lamborghini to someone who has only driven 8 year old stock Mustangs.
This is no longer a Lamborghini, if you think so you are delusional. It's amazing all the hot takes that come out after a lost. This is a lamborghini that is missing the plugs, needs new tires and a refresh. It is still valuable but a lot of valuable pieces are missing or still on back order.
Some of you need to relax. 3.5 games out from the best record in MLB 127 games left 50 million on the injured list. Paredes should be back by the end of the week. Framber and Odorizzi are about to start rehab assignments. Baez and Taylor are throwing again Team could look very different in a month.
No matter who's playing, what the record is, or any other factors that may play into it. In the eyes of some fans, the manager is always the problem.
I'm a bid delusional, sure. Dusty and Espada need to do better. Click needs some bandaids. We need to get guys of the IL. This team can still be really good - but they need to be managed. Base running has been terrible. The shifts suck. These are coaches problems that lose games.
people were complaining about base running with Hinch especially Altuve. What exactly is Dusty doing wrong, he can't make people hit with RISP which is what happened last night. The Shift sucks? Really? And you blame that on Dusty? He probably does not even really like shifts, that comes down from management did you have a problem when Hinch used the shifts? Once again what is dusty doing wrong with all of these injuries?
I see this. I also see 1) The Astros have the biggest discrepancy between Pythagorean wins and actual wins since Dusty took over. 2) Straw has batted leadoff. 3) A 4-man bullpen used for nearly a month (it is nice seeing Emanuel used more lately [it took a long time] and Scrubb back). 4) Playing the same catcher nearly every game (it is a long season). The Astros aren't the juggernauts they were 2017-2019, and don't have many wins (if any) to spare. Dusty has been better than I expected (especially last year in the playoffs other than one decision in one game), but he's still putting a lot of pressure on certain guys and underusing other guys. I know there are some outspoken about Dusty resting players too much, but I see the opposite for Maldy, Abreu, Raley, and Stanek. I'm very worried these guys are going to get run down. I don't think he's the right choice for a team without many inning eaters starting. Though, Click should get some of the blame as he seems to be holding back some potential bullpen arms to keep them stretched out as emergency starters. Not sure if this has cost the Astros wins, but it just makes me uneasy like when the Astros had Porter.
Maddon lulled the Astros into the slowest, most boring game, put them to sleep, and took the victory out of their pocket.
Unless another guy was warming up at the same time regarding a specific pitching change, I try to avoid criticizing bullpen usage. You don't know what Dusty knows. Was a certain reliever feeling sick? Did a reliever have some soreness? Did a guy develop a blister and won't be used for a couple days? Was a reliever at the hospital with a family member last night? etc, etc, etc
