Then I guess nobody was going to stop (or hide better) cheating in all its forms until Fiers decided to be a whinny b****.
Heck even after... Dave Roberts downplayed it regarding sticky tack in Los Angeles and Aaron Boone still defends all the shenanigans in New York.
With all of the injuries Dusty can't manage like he did last year. Unfortunately that's exactly what he's doing. Altuve is only going to play 120 games this year at the most. To win the division they need to win almost 70%of those games.
Dusty managed in a similar way in DC... which got him a lot of flak for not showing a sense of urgency despite finishing 1st in the division both years he was there
He had more talent than anybody else in the NL. His talent was unable to overcome the Dusty effect. The great team that Luhnow/Click put together was able to overcome Dusty's deficiencies. This yrs team due to injury isn't going to win despite Dusty and I say this as a guy who's glad Dusty finally got a ring,
No there not, Altuve/Garcia's injuries were a result of playing in the WBC, LMJ is always hurt and Urquidy will be back as well as Yordan. The real issues are Abreu has sucked, Brantley's been hurt, Bregs and Tucker have underperformed. Maldy is Maldy and the lineup isn't deep enough this year to overcome his deficiencies. Not to mention Dusty being Dusty.
It's weird how all of Dusty's teams magically get more talented and win more games the year he gets hired, and suddenly lose their talent and win fewer games as soon as he leaves.
This doesn't apply to the Astros though. We won a lot of games before he came here. We were .500 in 2020 after he got hired.
Didn't happen in Chicago. Under Baker the Cubs finished 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th. Pineilla took over and they finished 1st, 1st, 2nd, 5th.
They made the playoffs twice in Dusty's two years, winning the division 95 and 97 games. Since then, they've never won that many games. The year before he took over, they won 83 games. The year he left, they then won 82 games. Both years, they missed the playoffs. They did win the WS 2 years later, in their only postseason appearance since Dusty left, making it as a WC and 93 wins.
True - they magically got more talented in Dusty's first year, going from 5th in their division to 1st (improving by 21 wins) and made it to 1 win away from the WS in Dusty's first season, but they did slowly get worse from there. FWIW, from 1990 to 2014, a span of 25 seasons, the only season they made the NLCS (and almost WS) was under Dusty. 3 other times they made the playoffs and got swept in the NLDS.
2020 season doesn't count for **** I don't care about what yall are talking about, because I don't know what yall are talking about, but I just wanted to make that point.
It is magic when money is magically thrown at Barry Bonds to pry him from Pittsburgh It is magic when a team magically upgrades its 1B to a HOFer in Fred McGriff and magically lets Mark Prior play a full season It is magic when Anthony Rendon magically is healthy for the first time since high school (I say this with affection as Rendon is a Rice legend) It is magic... oh who am I kidding... the Reds still finished with less than 75 wins. It is magic when a World Series team magicly has a managerial opening in a super weak AL West with expanded playoffs
