Some of yall act like he's owed respect like he got this team through difficult times but in actuality old man got hooked up with World-Series ready team but still hasn't won us the big one.
" When Brandon Phillips interrupted Baker's daily pre-game press briefing to berate an Enquirer reporter, Baker didn't stop it. That suggested Baker didn't have the necessary control of his players. Then, as the Reds drifted, then nose-dived late in the year, Baker insisted there was no need for urgency." https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...-baker-fired-cincinnati-reds-reasons/2922315/
Mancini... 293 of 549 career games with time in the OF... Tweets from Tags and Rome... Dusty Baker on Trey Mancini's usage: "If I got Framber pitching, I need Yuli. He’s the Golden Glove. There’s only one Gold Glove. If I got a fly ball pitcher, he only played 13 games in the outfield in Baltimore before he got here. I got to play my best fly ball guy out there.” On why Meyers plays more than Chas... Dusty Baker said he wanted Jake Meyers to stay in Triple-A for longer after his minor league rehab assignment ended to get more at-bats. "He’s one of our best center fielders, but he’ll never get it if I don’t play him some time," Baker said. Seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy... Baker said he plays Mauricio Dubón in CF when Verlander is pitching "to stop them going first to third, because it's going to be a low-scoring, close game with J.V. pitching."
To be fair, almost all of that was 2019 and earlier, prior to his cancer and missed 2020 season. He didn't play the outfield at all in Baltimore in 2021 and only a tiny bit this year. That said, no idea how he looked this year when he was out there. I expect Mancini is entirely 1B/DH this year. Yordan goes to LF before he does.
Didn't Chas have that impressive throw to Maldy to prevent an run? Didn't we see Dubon's noodle arm throw it 20 ft off home plate? Dusty is growing senile and he's not making any sense.
LOL. Y'all are idiots. Dusty has control. He has had control of the players since he has been here. You are pulling up **** from a decade ago with a different organization. What have the Reds done since they fired Dusty Baker? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They have been at the bottom on the NL since Dusty left. 1 winning record since 2013.
1992 SF Giants 72-90 Dusty Hired 1993 SF Giants: 103-59 2002 CHI Cubs 67-95 Dusty Hired 2003 CHI Cubs 88-74 (Division Champs, first playoff series win in like 100 years) Cincinnati Made the playoffs in 3 out of 6 years ... after not having been there the previous 12 years Washington Made the playoffs in both of his years. No other manager EVER for Expos or Nationals (since 1969) has made the playoffs twice in their entire tenure with that team. His two teams also each won more games than they have since.
