I doubt Luhnow wants anything to do with the organization. He feels scapegoated by Crane, and probably just wants to move on from all of this altogether.
I am confused, does Crane own the team or not? If he is writing the checks, he can do whatever the heck he wants. If Click disagrees, he is free to seek employment elsewhere. As the real golden rule says, “He who writes the checks makes the rules”.
Click wins also. He built the Tampa Bay team that was the favorite on a shoe string. Click went to the WS this year. We would not have been competitive if it weren't for the moves that everyone questioned at the deadline. Everyone he picked up contributed to us getting as far as we did. We lost the WS because our bats went cold for 3 games. That happens and we saw that when we got swept by some pretty crap teams during the regular season.
I have never thought he was good enough - and it was a down grade, though I will admit not as much as I thought. This year, especially to lose McCullers and Verlander and get to game 6.....fine job. DD
Not to mention all the injuries and the hate. Who else but Baker can keep a team together. If anyone else they would have probably imploded… unlike Larusa DB aged well and the players play for him. Name me someone else that these guys will play for. He was there when they were at the bottom of the trash can. He deserves one clean season then hang up his Jersey.
I was upset, skeptical, and considered the Dusty hiring as a lazy, attempt to save face by hiring an MLB darling, wasteful move. Boy was I wrong. Dusty has been absolutely sensational the past two seasons.
This is a regular season award and Dusty was dog s**t all season. Not too many complaints about his postseason choices though. Not his fault the vaunted offense went into a coma.
He's not the best regular season manager, but with this group of guys, we really dont need a regular season manager.
Is it because how you think he managed the bullpen or rested players? For a good chunk of the season the bullpen was a **** show. Even after the trade deadline the bullpen was shaky. I'd say giving some of those bullpen guys pressure situations in the regular season paid off in the postseason. Astros didn't end up with the best record but they still ended up with homefield advantage in every round. One day they'll figure out how to win WS games at home.
I don't want dusty fired but I do want this to be his last year. Hopefully he rides of into the sunset with a ring.
