You must have missed the discussion on this, but there are Geneva convention regulations regarding torture of everyone including those who aren't soldiers that are your enemy. The U.S. to torture at all is illegally torturing.

Or it would be like saying the Quran has a human rights problem because some guy in Afghanistan committed an act of terrorism and is wanted for it.

    It's exactly like yours.

It doesn't seem odd to you that you (according to yourself) know very little about the Quran and you have come to a definitive position on the entirety of Islam?

Also, if you disagree with my perception, please show me by addressing the points I made. Ignoring it implies that you are incapable or not interested in doing so, and that you'd rather just come to the conclusion.

So essentially you make no claims and have nothing to back you up whatsoever in your hatred of Islam?

The one piece you did post was shoved back in your mouth with 3 different explanations of why you made a mistake, and mind you, it came from multiple perceptions/sects/theologies.

How likely is it that you are right about this, given the absence of any expertise (on your part) on the matter and clear opposition to your thoughts from people of different religions, beliefs, races, etc?

Do you realize that you are admitting to making a stubborn and superficial judgment of Islam which has led you to hatred?

I can produce information that you are wrong (about women's rights in Islam), and you can produce information that I am wrong. I wouldn't have a definitive answer unless I studied the religion for years. I choose my interpretation of Islam over yours because of current events seem to back mine up (the lack of women's rights in Islamic countries). I realize that my fear of Islam is not based on anything definitive (it never would be), which is another reason I don't hate/fear Muslims or others for their beliefs.

you realize those are from the hadiths, sunnah, which is not the quran, they do have cultural and authoritarian influence and they are arguable in sources as well. The quran views on women are progressive given the context and calls for respect and 'equality' seems to be a major theme throughout the quran, you won't find more backward than you would've in the bible as well. Know about the sources that you put in the hadith, sunnah.

Nonetheless, he is entrenched in his view and will see what he wants to and find support and ignore what other part he wants too, its very similar to osama's and the wahhabi's views of islam so they would probably like this guy for respecting and qualifing their view as the right view.

Actually buddy, you are only producing information that I am right.

    You know why?

You've only cited Wahhabist and Salafist sources of information.

Do you really think there are BRACKETS IN THE FREAKING QURAN???

Back to square one. Your perception of Islam is Wahhabist. Accept it. It's true. I promise it's true. Ask anyone who has studied Islam whom you trust.

Now point #2. An islamic country will never be free of human rights issues because Islam is not meant to govern a country. The introduction of Islam as a governing tool brought the demise of the Islamic empire and furthermore, your secular government is fully aware of the poisonous qualities of a religious government, so why aren't you?

I will say it again and again. Every. Single. Thing. You. Have. Said. About. Islam. Is. Only. True. For. One. Tiny. Group. Of. Muslims.

But seriously, did you really think there are brackets in Quranic verses? I'm going to laugh it up with my buddies about that one hahahaha

I didn't think they had brackets in the Qur'an. I didn't think I was quoting the Qur'an. Which is correct because as you say; I wasn't.

So why do you consider your view mainstream Islam as opposed to say the sources I posted?

You did quote the Quran. Verse 2:228, it's from Sura Al Baqarah. Showtang was telling you that the explanation is not in the Quran. FYI, there are no brackets in the Quran. You only see brackets in English because that is the Wahhabist interpretation of verses - you should read a clean and well-translated version. I won't find you a link because I'm biased lol but I'm sure you can find one if you want to.

I don't consider my view mainstream. Your view is mainstream. We're not talking about popularity here.

The popularity of something has absolutely no relation to the accuracy or truthfulness of it. Again, back to square one. Wahhabists have the money and are able to propagate their view to starving Muslims around the world.

You are going off on a tangent a bit. I'm saying your perception is of the Wahhabists. Wahhabist theology is from Abdul Wahhab, not from the Quran.

You said you hate ISLAM because of what's in the Quran. After which you promptly showed that you have no idea what is or isn't in the Quran. You again showed you have no idea in the post above. So again, the Quran is what the Prophet gave us. Everything else is man made. You are describing something man made - specifically made by a man called Abdul Wahhab. Not endorsed by the Prophet of Islam.

For a Wahabbist, over 75% of rules are not from the Quran. Therefore the MAXIMUM common denominator they have with other Muslims is 25% - and that's pushing it. When I was a Sunni Muslim, I can say I had less than 5% in common with them.

The sources you posted are mainstream - much like Naziism was mainstream in Hitler's heyday. That doesn't make it right.

I gave you an example. What if the KKK owned 30% of the world's oil, do you not think they would be able to bring their religion into the mainstream by targeting oppressed people around the world? What if they decided to FLOOD the market for bibles/scriptures with books containing their own interpretation and built schools in the Phillipines where such books would have to be used? What would happen?

    1) Your enemy is not Islam. It is Wahhabists.
    2) Their tool is not the Quran. It's non-Quranic Islamic history books such as books of hadith, books of tafseer, fatwas, ijmaa, qiyaas, etc. It's everything BUT the Quran.

Just to illustrate the role of non-Quranic books in the Wahhabist faith >>

If the books of Hadith say not to eat strawberries, then that is a law. It is not important to them whether there is a logical connection to Quranic rules. There does not need to be a rule in the Quran which supports this rule or vice versa. The books of hadith are their OWN set of legislation - and I **** you not - they may even contradict the Quran in which case the Wahhabists deem the older rule as "obsolete", "updated" or they view that the new rule is an exception to the Quranic rule. What I am telling you is that they are willing to strike out a principle from the Quran, in favor of a principle from man.

This is why the majority of their faith is non-Quranic. This is why your enemy is not the Quran nor is it Muslims. Your enemy is evil Wahhabists. I swear to you they want to take away your freedoms. They drool at the thought of re-establishing Shari3a and hereditary rule, and forcing dhimmitude upon all Americans. I'm not even joking right now. They want your money, your courts, your flag, your land, everything. They want to fly airplanes into your skyscrapers every freaking day. They want to kill your leaders, whether or not that comes with civilians. They want to execute you on national television. They want to inflict pain on the Jews worse than the holocaust. These people exist and they have SO MUCH MONEY.

And this whole time, your focus is diverted. I'm telling you this because I hate them too and I want my freedoms protected too. Not because I hate you or don't want you to have freedom or want to make fun of you on a message board. These guys are screwing us all. The longer you group the rest of the Muslims in with them, the longer you are alienating the people who could potentially be your strongest allies. They will protect your freedom because they want freedom too.

Wake up dude. If you care about freedom, pick up a book and learn what you need to learn about these people. The media won't give you what you want - they will give you whatever makes money for them. You need to take responsibility and focus your attention in the right places.

So I have been discussing the more common/popular definition/form of Islam, and you have been discussing a less common and more conservative(I am assuming from what you have written) form of Islam?

As far as "accuracy", I don't understand that term in this context. Would the more accurate definition of Islam be the one Muhammad originally preached or would it be the one most commonly taught? If I asked your average Muslim (who probably believes in my definition according to your above statement) they would say my definition of Islam is what Muhammad actually taught, wouldn't he?

You yourself said that they produce 90 % of the Islamic literature. So he quoted something that reflects what 90 % of Islamic literature says?

Are you questioning why a group of people go to war?

War is ugly. Palestinians are doing what they think they need to to get what they want.

That's the rational. Justification for a war however is subjective kido.

LOL, New Yorker comes in and poops his incoherent, misspelled nonsense into several threads within a timespan of minutes. Funny.
