No they didn't. You are thinking of the 2002-03 Mavericks which did not include Walker but the player he was traded for...Raef LaFrentz. That team also had Van Exel, Najera, Walt Williams and Avery Johnson.

Congratulations, if we get finley and walker we'll be: the Houston Magical KnickerMavs.

Oh man, then there would be a slamdunk contest and Rookie Game as well for every weekend the Rockets played. Sounds like a plan =)

finley may be older but he's still an effective player who is still a good defender. he brings a lot to a team and if he can be had at a good price (under $4 million per year) i'd take him any day of the week over walker who just shoots the ball until he's taken out or gets injured.

Ok, first, what's Juwon Howard doing in this equation? I never questioned Antoine's ability compared to Juwon's. I never even question his ability alone. I said comparing him to T-mac's situation/criticism in Orlando was and is ridiculous, especially towards his effeciency and intelligence in the playoffs, which the other poster, you quoted, mentioned and specifically noted.

Taking the statistical route you've taken, I'll go one by one.

FG % isn't even close come playoff time. And during the regular season, 'Toine has never had a season shooting better than 42% including last year. While T-mac's had several over 45%, enough to consider it the norm, despite his last two seasons. We can't compare solely on last season's stats, as T-mac was on a new team while 'Toine was returning to a team.

Rebounds- You'd expect a PF to better a SF/SG on this stat, so to compare would be moot.

Assists/steals/ blocks- T-mac is clearly the superior on all three come playoff time.

As for 3pt %, I won't argue. There are times where I rather not have T-mac jack up threes, so I'm not gonna complain about this with Walker.

With all this, it IS silly to compare. BIG TIME

Btw, I do agree Finley here wouldn't really work. I still rather not pick Walker with hopes and assumptions that he can fit in and compliment our two stars.

And I forgot to mention, on the note of defense, T-mac has been and shown to be a good/great defender unlike Walker.

So again, let's stop the silly comparisons.

as a mavs fan i can only hope and pray that the rockets sign walker.

walker is a walking sack of crap as a player. if you thought francis and mobley took ill advised shots or were frustrated by their inability to make smart basketball decisions, walker makes the two of them look like basketball jesus.

walker's IQ = francis' IQ divided by 50.

What? who are you talking about? Kenny Walker?

Toine doesn't turn the ball over like you think and his basket IQ is tremendous.....don't let your dislike for him and his past antics influence your assessment of him as a player.

did i just read antoine walker and tremendous basketball IQ in the same sentence? have i fallen off the earth and landed on bizarro world? toine turns the ball over 3 times a game. if that isn't a lot, then so be it.

you don't want me to look at his past antics? fine. lets look at him as a player and what he brings to the table in all likelyhood.

    is he athletic? no.
does he shoot the ball well? no.
can he hit a free throw? no.
does he play any defense? no.
    can he jump? no.
has he shown any inkling of basketball IQ over the course of his career? no.

    is he slow? yes.
does he shoot too much? yes.
does he shoot with incredibly bad timing? yes.
does he fumble the ball away all the time? yes.
is he a walking, talking, bumbling, turnover machine? yes.

signing fatoine walker would be the worst thing the rockets could do.

Before you start making judgment calls about ball players.......how about watching them play a few games first. You just told me all I needed to know about YOUR basketball IQ by your assessment of Toine Walker.

Is Toine Walker a hell of a basketball player? Hell Yes.

I don't have the time to prove you wrong dude....it's not my style. Plus, more than 3/4 of this board will agree with me totally. You are entitled to your opinion, so don't get me wrong......it's no knock on you. You're just lacking in your b-ball knowledge right now.

He can dribble...shoot....pass....rebound and defend way above average. (Yes defend....Antoine played for Rick Pitino, he can defend when made to do it) Look at stats before you run off at the mouth about players you are bias against.

Let's not replace one aging Shooting Guard with another. SLow, slower, really slow (the next few years of their games). After 35, it's a hard position to play.

    agreed.

we've been talking bout getting younger and more athletic, so let's do that. i don't really know how i feel about walker, but the only way i want finley here is if we get him cheap and he's coming off the bench. he fills neither the young nor athletic roles we're looking for in a swingman.
