Please say no to Sprewell!!!!!! There is no way we can afford to feed his family and all the bu*lshi*! that comes with it
[Captain Obvious] I think that was his point. He's not advocating Spreewell. He's saying he dislikes Finley THAT much. [/Captain Obvious]
I’ve seen an interview with Finley here in Dallas and from the sounds of it he wants to be a starter and wants quite a bit of playing time. I don’t think I’d want him on the team if he’s not going to accept a role player type situation, which is pretty much why he wants to leave Dallas.
Erm. He's not really making the decision to leave Dallas. Cuban's the one that's deciding to let him go, and according to the CBA, Finley couldn't go back to Dallas even if he wanted to.
yes, we don't need another guard. As much as I dont like Antoine. I dont think he's that bad of a player.
I like Finley and he sure would look good in the Rockets backcourt. But he simply doesn't address the team's primary needs. Pass.
I know that, I was just relaying what he had said in an interview, my point was that he would want a lot of playing time where ever he ends up.
Finley over Walker. Actually, I'd prefer giving Matt Maloney another long-term deal over having Walker on the Rockets!
If the rockets can sign and trade for a power forward, i wouldn't be opposed to using MLE on Finley, provided the contract isn't too long. He wouldn't be a long term answer, but at least a stop gap for the time being and buy the rockets another offseason and another draft to help solve the position. You can't fill all of your long term needs in one offseason so this will buy the rockets some time.
We need 3 or 4 more pieces to get to the NBA finals. He could be one of those pieces, good size for a guard/SF and he certainly possessed game in his prime. Certainly his skills have diminished but he can still contribute and provide depth. Question is how much will it cost and how much does he want to come here? He is of the age where winning a championship might be on the top of his priority list and depending on the new CBA, if he gets paid his full salary by the Mavs, he may be willing to take the vet minimum to play for the Rox if he feels it is his best route to get a ring. This is exactly the type of guy you want to attract, a player that has become reasonably priced because of a loophole. CD needs to make some bold moves (not easy to do) and put together a team that looks like they can contend next season so he can sell the "do you want a ring" pitch.
Ugh, first Stephon Marbury now Antoine Walker... Guys, can you all stop these insane comparisons? Has Antoine every displayed ANY , at the least, hints of defensive capabilities? To even compare him to T-mac's situation who, before the uneducated slanting and slighting of his play, was known for his defense and intelligence?
I'm not a big fan of Finley, but I wouldn't mind having him in our starting lineup, and I wouldn't mind have Walker with the starting 5 either.
Wrong.. This is all part of the whole " Van Gundy= Pro Veterans and anti-rookies" pressumptious FALSE belief that began thriving since his signing and never fully died. Weatherspoon was a stop gap signing. Barry was a cheap and convinient signing initially, we were in need of better perimeter play but there wasn't much to pick from. Ward, JVG admitted during the season how "disappointed" he was with Ward not being honest on the evalution of his readiness and condition. Mutombo was a good signing, simply one of the few best options available for the back up 5 that offseason. The only ones questioning the move were posters here who had known little of Mutombo that year, and all the anti-Mutombo posts were all based on assumptions. If there's anything JVG prefers in players, it's thrive, heart, defense and intelligence. Be it young or old. If a player shows being capable of most of these traits, he'll be interested. I think this is proved or will be proved with the "Luther Head" signing.
Regarding Defense, AW is clearly a better, statisically, then JHow. His Steals, Blocks, Rebounds are all superior for their careers over Howard. AW only averages ONE extra turnover per game over Howard. Given that AW was the #1 option on his team and Howard never has been, that number isn't alarming to me. Doing a head-to-head comparison of Walker and TMac, you'll be surprised. FG% is identical Rebounds = AW clearly better Assists = TMac clearly better (but AW ain't bad) Steals = slight edge to TMac Blocks = slight edge to AW (However, his blocks # doubled from ATL to BOS last season) 3pt% is identical (and everybody is b****ing that AW is so bad when TMac shoots the same) So why are the comparisons silly? Finley plays the same position as TMac. He's redundant. I'll take Walker over Finley.
didnt they go to the WCF and win over 60 games that year with the team I believe they had 2nd best record in the league that year.
