I agree that the trade does nothing for Dallas. But the Big 3 is going nowhere, fast and faster. Nowitzki is too good to worry about keeping the Big 3 together. He doesn't need a "big 3" when it really is a "big 4." Van Exel was the 3 in big 3 during the playoffs. OK, maybe you keep Finley. Then trade Van Exel. The team isn't just going to land Malone or PJ Brown out of thin air, unless they take a mid-level exception. If they do, hell, call me stupid. imo, Dallas is beating their heads against a wall known as the real Western forces, and it ain't budging anytime soon. They need to find an interior, or they have a long road in front of them...then again, Nowitzki and Nash both have many more years...so they can possibly afford patience and trading for draft picks. Then again, I hope Cuban and Co is stupid enough to stay put with the Big 3, and they land no salary sacrificing big men.
You mention that they would not have beaten Sacramento had Webber not gotten injured (pure speculation on your part) but conveniently ignore that they did not have their best player against San Antonio. I am telling you that if Dirk had played, they might have won the series. That makes all your rambling about how they are going nowhere moot. I wish we had search so that I could pull up some of your old quotes about Dirk and Dallas. Every year, they keep proving you wrong a little bit more.
Call the Kings ability to outplay Dallas at their own game "just speculation on my part." Yeah, I'm the *only* one who believes that. Kings, Portland, Lakers, Spurs can all give Dallas serious trouble, and they have. Even Nelson and Cuban are admitting things that you are not willing to talk about without trying to say the other person just hates Dallas. we are just talking trade here, and their needs to find that one last missing piece, and you're acting like I'm saying that they have no chance. I'm saying that they have little to no chance without that key piece, just like Spurs fans last year admitted they were missing a piece. if we had the search function, we would see once again how you are in denial about things Nelson and Cuban aren't. last time we talked about Dallas's offense, they did not have Van Exel and LaFrentz. That kinda makes them a better scoring team, no? Later, you were comparing Nowitzki to Bird while Nelson was saying his passing needed to improve. I just think Bird comparisons are silly; Nowitzki is a completely different type of player. You also deny his defensive weakness as a PF that needs a new player to protect--and Cuban is looking for it. The only thing that has improved out of his passing and defense is the team's ability to play zone and surround him with more guns. I haven't even seen you admit to things that the Dallas players admit to themselves. you are just being a homey and not talking basketball that your coach, players and owner are talking about.
