I would have to think that Finley can go wherever he wants. If Cuban attempts to influence the negotions the Mavs could be facing the Joe Smith penalty. I just don't see even Cuban risking it.

Great move on Cuban's part, you have to admire it.

does anybody still doubt that cuban sent tapes to the refs about Yao Ming after this move? who looks like the type of person that would lie after this shrewd move, jvg or cuban? this sonofabitch has stuck it to the Houston Rockets twice now. god i'd love for jvg to catch him in a dark alley one night.

What makes you so sure Finley was in the bag before Cuban allegedly did this? I'm sure the Suns/Spurs fans have a bigger case to be pissed at him.

Less competition in the West for the Rox. Check.

Kobe pisses in his pants some more. Check.

    Good day, all around. :D

I am not absolutely convinced that we really need a "true" pg. It was obvious that the offense was more successful when tmac handled the ball. I think with what they have right now, especially after the aqusition of swift, they are a team thats more than a handful to deal with in west. They need to just sit tight and not try to do too much. Besides D. Anderson is not that much of an upgrade. What we really need to be thinking about is why cant Yao keep his butt here where he can rest and work on developing some real moves.

I know the chance for Rockets to land Finley is slim, but at least its fun to speculate and the offseason goes a bit quicker, now that Cuban blows everything!! I cannt wait to kick the Mavs asses next season!!

How do you know Cuban would have that money in 10 years?

I would, b/c money in my hands today has more value than money tomorrow. Cash is concrete, tangible...whereas a promise...well you know what they say about those things.

The big thing is the future value of that money. Inflation is around 3% per year, meaning that each year, your dollar will buy around 97% of what it did the year before. That means that Finley's $5 million in ten years would be worth 71.6% of what it will be worth today. That is a difference of 1.42 million in buying power lost if Finley gets that money over a decade instead of his contract life.

Yeah...that's what I said. Stop trying to confuse people. It's more valuable now not only because of its diminshing value due to inflation. You can't do a whole lot with money you dont have. You show people the Bennies and they move... Which is what Finley will do...move...where hell be slappin some Cuban booty. (no pun intended)

we weren't gonna land finley anyway. at least this way he doesn't go to the suns, nuggets, or spurs. if we end up with DA or spree i would take my chances against those 3 teams in the playoffs.

Not that the Rockets had a chance to land finley anyways, but ric bucher's report only talks of speculation......he doesn't speak in any definite terms and he didn't sound to sure about finley agreeing to any terms. just another rumor to throw out there.
if it's true, i think it's kind of a bush move on cuban's part....holding finley's money hostage to sign in the east.
