.500 gets our youngsters a taste of playoff basketball, possibly even a play-in victory. From where I thought we'd be at the beginning of the year, that's a massive win.
Compared to my pre-season estimates, we have really done well. Better in almost every aspect of the game, except the offense perhaps. But as the season has worn on, and my expectations risen, we could be better than this. The 1st SA game, one of the Lakers games and even the most recent Philly games were all winnable. 18-12 would have looked so much better than 15-15.
2 games without Fox and 3 games without Morant, I am sure if they were fully healthy, some of those games would be losses.
I am very satisfied with the season so far: 1) Alpi, Bari, Tari all improved substantially 2) Free agents are above expectations. 3) Ime is a perfect coach for development and he can do it while fighting for wins 4) The defensive intensity as a team, good transition D. As for the downsides: 1) Two spots are wasted on Landale, Boban, or maybe even 3 with Tate 2) Green not showing the expected improvement It would be perfect if could get to the playin and the players get a taste and experience of playoff basketball. I am not sure it is going to happen though. We got a lot of wins by extreme defensive intensity which is not sustainable. Also the roster is limited in talent and depth, 3 wasted spots I mentioned bove and Amen and Cam are not ready to contribute. As the season goes on, other teams are getting better, I don't see us getting better than our start of the season. Last year 40 wins made the playins. I would consider it a huge success recordwise if we can make the playin. Developmentwise it is a success anyway. We need some improvements that can be done through trades.
Pleased. Looks like Sengun will end up a top 10-15 player over the next few years. Smith also looking like someone that will be an all-star. I would, rather, though take a few more losses and have Thompson and Whitmore playing the majority of the back up minutes off the bench on the perimeter.
It was a hard schedule (not the hardest ever), but at the same time, we had abundant days off in-between games.
At least he didn't mention all the other teams missing people or the rest days we got during that part of the season. That would be like glass all empty. lol. They're doing better than I expected, but hopefully they improve the 2nd half. For a while there, we were losing to the good teams, but barely. Our defense was good, but questionable lately. And now injuries are hitting, so ... *shrug*. I'd hate to think if someone like FVV went down averaging 100 minutes per game.
