How about Josh Boone of the Nets? Brooks Lopez is definitely their center for the next ten years and it might not make sense to keep both of them.
uh... have you been watching wallace playing at all?? The dude makes deke look like dwight howard. wallace is getting worst on the defensive side and will bring absolutely NOTHING on the offensive side, plus he's freaking EXPENSIVE (one of the most overpaid guy in the league)
He's a free agent after this offseason. He's not going to earn nearly as much as he did this past year (13 million).
Get Hamed Haddadi from Memphis. he is 7 '1. has a nice shot. young and can develop behind Yao> Memphis never played him, cause they said they are develping him. With around 1mil a year he is cheap too.
EXACTLY. The guy used to be a great player and not because of his shooting touch. He could do damage on the block. But all he has done this season was standing and shooting jumpers (most of the were 3s). I don't remember him scoring in the paint. But maybe it was just his attidue. I mean, he was on a bad team, realy bad.
What about Robert Swift? 7'1 center from OKC. He's a unrestricted FA this summer. (OKC has 3 centers by the way...)
This is the direction I think is most likely. A guy like Swift is big and has some upside. If he's willing to sign for cheap, he'd be a good fit. Either a young guy with upside, or an older guy willing to take a discount to play for a contender.
Swift has played four season. He missed 32 games in his rookie year due to injury. In the last three seasons he's endured season ending injuries in each.
Which is why he comes cheap -- if Yao, Scola, Landry (and Hayes for that matter) are healthy, no backup will see more than 10 minutes.
How about Omer Asik? Please click on the following links to watch two short clips on Asik. He will fit perfectly coming off the bench. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Oe5rLXzJdM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcvtM8JqlnY
nice links, never heard of him. From those highlight videos he jumps really quickly off the floor and has great shot blocking instincts, a little reminiscent of Dikembe. If we could get him I would be intrigued.
I'll throw this point out, even though it's pretty obvious. If you go on the assumption that watching what a GM does is more informative than believing what a GM says, then the amount that the Rockets invest in their new backup center is going to say a whole lot about whether they truly believe that Yao will stay healthy. If they acquire a 7 foot stiff, it suggest that they think Yao's injuries have been flukes and that he'll probably be there for the entire 2010 playoff run. However, if the Rockets sacrifice a lot to get a quality big man, you can extrapolate that to mean they don't feel very good about Yao's chances of finishing a complete season, and they want more than just a ten minutes a night player.
Rockets hold the rights to Sergei Lishouk who this season led the Eurocup in blocks. The Eurocup is a second tier comp to Euroleague. http://www.eurocupbasketball.com/ul...ctl00_ddlCategories=7&ctl02_ctl00_ddlTopics=5
Turiaf would be my choice. If we could dump Tracy for 2 of these..... Corey Maggete Stephen Jackson Monta Ellis Jamal Crawford And throw Ronny in as well, and maybe Kelenna
