McDyess still lives in Houston. The last time that I talked to him (less than a year ago), he said he would love to play for the Rockets. His wife and her family are from Houston. Mcydess himself is a country boy and loves Texas. The Dice man is 6-10, started for Detroit at Center since Ben Wallace left for Chicago. He can play center and has been playing it now for awhile. If something happened to Yao, he could step in and start games. Dice is a good defender, excellent rebounder and a real good midrange shooter. Dice is older, but he has been healthy and he has tons of playoff experience. I say Rockets should make him a priority, he is a Unrestricted Free Agent that wants to come home to H-Town!

He's looking for at least the MLE and the Rockets won't have the salary space to use that fully because of their own free agents and LT. If the Rockets want to re-sign Wafer they'll need to use part of their MLE.

If' you've seen him you'd know he's not 6'10 at all, he's barely 6'9, but yeah i'd love to have him and he's possibly the kind of guy morey is looking for, but i'd still worry about the size of this team when Yao sits, but if we're not going for a 6'11 guy or 7 footer, then Dyess may be the best choice.

not a bad idea imo.....darko did play good playing second fiddle to Dwight Howard, eventually starting alongside with Howard...

Or we could go after Nenad Krstic, He's not exactly starting for Oklahoma, and he is perfect for Adleman's system..

I think what you are trying to say is he plays small. He does not play likea 6-11 center.

No to Mcdyess. What's he gonna bring to the table that Landry already doesn't? He's nearly a decade older than Landry, not nearly as athletic as he once was or close to Landry in that regards now. Also they're about the same size height/weight. Unless we package Landry for a much better player and we get Dice for the Min. I don't see him as a realistic or beneficial pickup.

Not if Darko starts talking about how he's going to rape his daughter like he did with that ref in Serbia......Ron would kill him in a second.

I think dyess has to be the best option when it comes to signing a vet if we cant get a 7 footer. His J is pretty good, he's a better rebounder than Landry, and he's use to playing center. And dyess already makes the minimum i believe, it's not like we'd be giving up somethign for him, just signing him....he's like the grant hill signing of big men, both made just a million this year and are producing like solid starters.

and yes, i hope we get grant hill as well.

He had better rebounding numbers because he played more minutes than Landry. Landry is too valuable to have his minutes cut. He can produce equally if not better than Dice and we need to play him those minutes to showcase him so we can at least move him before the deadline if we have an opportunity to get something good. I'm not completely against signing Dice but I think there's a lot better options that need to be explored first.

No, I'd say he had better rebounding numbers because he's just a better rebounder. Last 3 seasons, his Reb% is 17.0, 17.4, and 19.3. Landry was 16.4 as a rookie, but only 13.6 this past year.

i wasn't suggesting giving all his minutes to dyess, but bringing in dyess as yao's back up. You'd cut back Yao's minutes even more and still have a solid backup that isn't exposed offensively like chuck. The second unit's 4 and 5 could be Landry and Dyess. Dyess is a more consistent rebounder than scola or Landry and he's not liekly to roam, he knows his job and sticks to it. Landry often roams off to try and get blocks and scola goes for steals, so although they rebound well they aren't always in rebounding mode, dyess is.

I suggested Ioannis Bourousis before because he completely owned Yao and Scola at the Olympics. Well I think it's pretty clear he is the target of Morey now.

Isn't dyess too small to play center? All these FC players are iffy to me because we need a true backup center and not players who are power forwards that can play the center position in limited situations.

Scola is the same height as dyess; wouldn't he qualify to be FC just as well?

I want a true center just as much as anyone on here, the only reason i'm suggesting dyess is because Morey said they obviously need to go after a back up center, but they weren't gonna get a 7 footer just to have a 7 footer, they want someone who can really contribute, if that meant going small, then so be it. So if no true center/7 footer that can contribute is available, then I think dyess is the best choice left.

I guess by definition he is small for a center, just like these other Pf/C, but he has played it extensively in Detroit.
