I think we should go after the Birdman, he's like Dwight Howard but only plays 20 mins. I know Denver wants to keep him but this is the same team that traded Camby away for nothing because of his salary. So throw some money at the birdman and see if they blink. There is obviously an off the court risk but I'm willing to deal with risk in order to take the 2nd best shot blocker in the league.
He's not going to be overpaid, he's good at what he does, but his skills are clearly defined, it's very likely they'll match anything he gets offered
darko and ron on the same team???? I think ron would kill him after he wakes up to find darko trying to kill him in the middle of his nap
I would like camby or kaman, hell any of the big mean from the clippers execpt randolph dude is a head case.
I say we go balls out like the Jets. Trade with OKC...send them, I dunno Landry+a future 1st for their third overall. OKC's looking for an impact player in the paint and Landry fits the bill plus, without Blake and Rubio, OKC has little incentive to keep the 3rd anyways and would probably rather have a somewhat proven player then an unknown. Then we draft Hasheem Thabeet and watch hilarity ensue.
The Rockets worked out Luke Nevill on the 14th. Nevill's a 7-1 Aussie finished his career as the Utes all time leading shot blocker. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Luke-Nevill-548/
I understand what u and morey says, but I think this is where basic ideas over rule moneyball. I don't care how strong or how long ur arms are, when a guy has 6'on you, ur going to have problems with high passes. Ben Wallace did a great job because he's 6'9 with long arms, but guys that kept the ball high, he struggled. A 6'6 guy has to drop his base which makes him even smaller. When a team like La stop bsing, they threw the ball high and it was nothing those small guys could do about it. Jordan made more sense then and he makes more sense now. Maybe jvg would like a small, no skill guy like dorsey, but adelman has never had a lot of smallish players. Its a reason hayes only plays in a emergency, but at least chuck has a high bbiq. You're not going to win a ring with a 6'6 backup center.
Ben Wallace isn't 6'9, though. He's 6'7, roughly the same size and physical dimensions as Dorsey. Dorsey is a pretty good leaper, and he'll body up on guys. But I'm not saying Dorsey was the right pick, and really I'm not trying to defend the Rockets decision to take him. Just explaining what I can gather their thought process was on that choice.
This team needs a big, young athlete. I would definitely take an older guy (Ratliff) for spot minutes but this team can't depend on Chuck and Scola only to defend mobile post players. Watching the Denver's big, athletic front line last night told me more than ever that this team needs some size and athleticism up front more than it needs another wing player or a PG.
first you said we need a big young athlete, then you said u'd take ratliff, who's basically good for no more than 10 min a game and he's what now, 36, 37??
I was not clear. I think this team needs two big men. One can be an older dude like Ratliff who might only play a few minutes a game or not at all some nights. The other guy will play major minutes and needs to be a young, athletic player close to 7 feet tall. I would give up rotation players like Carl Landry in a heartbeat for the second player.
