I HOPE YOU FIND IT. Your ring... your... PRECIOUS... your... PRECIOUS... smeagol... YOUR PRECIOUS... [eeeeeeeeeeekkkkk!!! ] Spoiler I kid, of curse, Lady_Smeagol.
That sux...So she was fired for allegedly stealing the ring? Wouldn't she get fired for stealing it and lying about it? I don't know about you, but $50 is a lot of money to me...I think you did the right thing as I'd do the same...It's about the principle of the thing...
If the cleaning lady took it, and then lied about it when asked, she has stolen it. I mean, that's crazy. Losing something does not make it "not" yours.
True, but it isn't the same a blantaly stealing. You shouldn't get fired over finding something in a public bathroom and keeping it IMO.
Oooh, calm down with your BS. I'm crazy but this comes from a man who have issues with women so go figure. You're sooooo right. Nobody comes in the restroom when they're there. Did you ever think that they will park their cart outside of the restroom so we can go in there? The restroom is big enough for a person at the sink to see the floor of the stalls. I said I lost it, did I? I lost in the restroom. My cube is a few steps from the restroom so yes, I know I didn't lose it anywhere. It fell out of my pocket...do I need to explain how it fell out? Ugh, you're mean.
Ok, I guess I'm a little different than most people in this thread, but I see nothing wrong with what you did. For one thing, it was $50. Some people may see it as chump change, but in my opinion, fifty bucks gets you a nice ring. Plus, it was your favorite. You have someone who says they saw the woman pick it up, so you are justified in filing a report.
Yes, you should, if you are clearly presented with evidence that the person that lost it wants it back and asks for it, if you have it. If you keep it in that circumstance, you are no different than taking if off the person's finger. You know it isn't yours, you know the person it belongs to wants it, but you keep it anyway. You are a thief. And many of your points are nuts (and not the salted cashew variety). I have been in the restroom with the cleaning crew many times at my job...and that spans 3 different offices owned by three different companies. That in and of itself would not be unusual. I don't blame her for making a big deal. Even if it was $20. If she trusts what Angela says, then she has enough evidence to make a big deal out of this. Edit: Since you like playing the assumption game so much (all women are crazy, therefore Angela is lying. LadyDi is lying about the cost of the ring, etc), then I'm going to assume that you have found something valuable at one time in your life, made no attempt to return it or find its owner, and are now trying to justify that choice in this thread because you feel guilty.
Yes you should if someone asked if you had it, and you lied instead of returning it to the rightful owner. It's not like the cleaning lady was totally unaware of who the ring belonged to. Heck - there was probably a 99.999% chance it was someone in the building. All the cleaning person had to do was ask around for 10 seconds and lady di probably would have it back. Instead, she intentionally kept it, did not mention it to anyone who might know who was missing it, and then probably lied about it when questioned to her face. That's ****ing stealing. And lying. And generally being an unethical POS. File the claim, get her fired, and don't feel bad about it. You reap what you sow.
I disagree with this. I'd like to start a poll to see how often people are actually in the restroom with the cleaning crew. Most of the time, they are moping, cleaning and it creates an unsafe environment and most buildings have strict rules that you cannot be in there at the same time as the cleaning crew. Can anyone else back me up on this point?
They are only moping because they are poor cleaning Hispanics, but you really shouldn't bring that in to this discussion, you racist.
Yes. How did it fall out? You also mentioned that the ring was big, correct? How did you not hear it hit the ground, especially in a restroom where the floor is most likely tile or a hard surface?
I know that in my building they block the door with their cart when they are cleaning. I can't say whether it's normal or not.
Nope. I've been in multiple restrooms with the cleaning people at the same time. Maybe you should retract your uninformed and rather rude accusations instead of asking for internet donations to the "jgreen91 for public restroom sheriff" campaign...
You know what.. any of you that are saying it wasn't stolen it was lost would feel a heck of a lot differently if it was say.. your watch, or wedding ring, or something that you really like. Di I would say you handled it as best you can. There's no way to know if she took it, or if someone else took it, all you can do is report it lost and see if it turns up.
