Me too. I actually have less stress now than I did in college. Maybe I just lucked out getting a good job when I graduated, but all-nighters, concurrent projects, juggling five classes and their related assignments at one time, working entire weekends to finish a project - there was just a lot more going on at one time. School easily consumed forty hours of my week on the average. Now I work forty hours a week, my weekends are always free, don't have to pull any all-nighters, and I get paid for doing it! I suppose it just varies for every person, and a lot if just depends on dedicated you are to your schoolwork, how lucky you are finding a job you like when you graduate, and several other circumstances. I mean, I could have been lazy, stayed in college for six years, made mediocre grades, majored in _____ (don't want to offend anyone), and partied all the time. If that were the case, then yeah, I would probably enjoy school more than the dead-end job I was forced to take after I graduated because my gpa of ___ (don't want to offend anyone again) was too damn low. Oh, and I had to work a full-time job every summer to help pay for college, so summer break was no advantage for me. A lot of people even work during the schoolyear to help pay for college, which just makes it even tougher.
i will say i'm fairly lucky in terms of college. scholarships take care of all expenses and then some so i'm getting paid which is probably one reason my parents don't care that much that i don't get a summer job, even though my dad would like me to get one eventually. i had plenty of AP credit coming in so i have been able to take relatively light course loads while still getting out in 4 years. and then in ChE everyone is so connected in terms of old hw's and tests it's ridiculous and we take care of each other when it comes to giving the stuff out. i haven't done a che hw assignment (well maybe 2 total) for like the last 2 semesters b/c we either have the old one and the prof keeps it the same or i copy it from someone else. we have tons of old tests to look over and well we may or may not cheat a lot on tests (although i would still do well w/o it, i still like having the option). college for me the last 2 years is very much the opposite of high school for me. in high school i was gunning to be the valedictorian (lost out to my best friend since 2nd grade). i studied a lot, remember staying up til 3:30 many times for AP US history, did all my work, didn't cheat at all, and was the one people asked for stuff instead of the other way around. and unlike other schools, we broke down gpa into little 2 point intervals (like 98-100, 96-97, 94-95, and so on) so getting an A wasn't good enough, you had to shoot for 100. now in college i get hw's, don't seem to have as many projects, though labs are a huge pain in the ass, and only have to gun for a low A. the difference b/t barely getting an A and going for a 100 is massive. it's made life so much more relaxing. unfortunately it ends in a year, and then comes the real world. i better semi-like my job.
Well, I loved college...bartended for 9 years.....7 of them in college....if you think MacBeth has stories, you haven't heard nothin.. However, I would not go back for anything...got 2 good kids, a wonderful wife, I am President of a video game company....life is pretty darn good....now if I could just get those Rockets to start winning again...and don't even mention the Astros...ugh.
