All-90s Team: Coached by - Phil Jackson Starters: G - John Stockton, Michael Jordan F - Scottie Pippen, Karl Malone C - Hakeem Olajuwon Reserves: G - Gary Payton, Clyde Drexler, Reggie Miller F - Charles Barkley, Chris Mullin C - David Robinson, Patrick Ewing All-2010s Team: Coached by - Gregg Popovich Starters: G -Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant F - Kevin Durant, LeBron James C- Dwight Howard Reserves: G - Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade, Tony Parker F - Carmelo Anthony, Dirk Nowitzki, Blake Griffin C - Tim Duncan Expanded into 12-man teams. Who do y'all see winning between these two teams?
If you were to put the 90s Dream Team plus Dream instead of Laettner, no way in hell does any current team win.
You don't need three centers. Get rid of Robinson and replace with Rodman. btw: let's keep this to a 4yr span team from the '90s, to match the 4yrs of the 2010. Make it 92-96. Your team still works.
I still prefer the 00's. Kidd/Nash/Iverson Kobe/Wade Lebron/Tmac Duncan/KG/Webber/Dirk Shaq/Yao And I cant even find a spot for Ray, Paul Pierce, or any one of the Wallace brothers. Having said that, any team with Durant and Lebron. I take my chances with them no matter who the other 3 is.
90s was the best defense era (by far), and plenty of offense. Consider this: Payton Jordan Pippen Rodman Hakeem Are all arguably the best defenders at their positions of all time. You put that team on the court together, and any other team in the history of the NBA is going to have a very tough time scoring. And they have offense to burn! And we can narrow them into a 4 yr window 92-96, like the OPs 10-14. vs MJ and Dream?
Jordan is arguably the MOST athletic player ever! His engine was like Rip Hamilton on steroids, the dude did not get tired, in fact, at the end of the game, he was putting it into a 7th gear, which no one else had. Though I did not put him on here, go watch a highlight real of Drexler in his prime guy was like LeBron, steam train right down the court ripping the rim off! VERY POWERFUL guy. The 90's would scare the crap out of the players today. They have never seen players like them on the court (Beverley is a good example of yesterday which upsets players of today) and the attitude of yesterday was like a street match where the players of today are used to finesse college ball.
The trash talk coming off of Payton, Jordan and Rodman alone would have the players of Today so F-ed up they wouldn't be able to think straight. It was psychological warfare in the 90's on top of the highest competitive physical players in the history of the game. 90's hands down.
Dirk definitely makes the top 20. He's such an incredible offensive weapon. One of the greatest scorers that have played the game. He could score from anywhere on the court. Only James, Bird, Jordan, Kobe, and Durant can do that. And Dirk makes it look so easy.
The 90's would absolutely destroy the team of today. Like other people have said, defense would be the difference.
In a 7 series 90's would take it 4-1 or worse case 4-2. Bryant could catch total fire and steal a game or 2, but chances are he would chuck up heaps of shots at an ineffecient rate. And no Lebron won't be as effective with him having to share the ball with Kobe and CP3 and having Pippen guarding him. And I won't even go on about the greatest shooting guard, the greatest centre in the modern era, the greatest pure point guard and the other 2 HOF's
If you want to make the best team for the 2000s you probably go - PG - Lebron James SG - Kobe Bryant SF - Kevin Durant PF - Kevin Garnett C - Tim Duncan
Can we stop putting LeBron in the 00's.... he's 10's. Most of his career, his prime, MVPs, and championships will happen in the 10's.
Dirk might very well be Top 20. Which of these 25 players is he better than? MJ Kareem Wilt Dream Russell Malone Malone Magic Duncan Bird West Oscar DRob Barkley Kobe LeBron Garnett Ewing Isaiah Durant Shaq Miken Pettite Drexler Dr J
My first thought was 90's, but looking at the matchup, I'm not so sure. 90's had more depth, I think, especially at the C position. Ewing was probably better than Howard will ever be, for example.
