it isn't about that. we're all thankful for what sam did for us to win the championship.

we're talking about his play in THIS game, not years ago. stay in the present. in this game, he nearly killed the celts with those 2 possessions. that's all.

if he made those shots, then he'd be the hero. but they didn't lose, so he's not the goat.

plus his first half was so good it offset his bad second half.

even Magic Johnson and Jon Barry agreed Sam played well.

You guys dwell on it like if he was Yao Ming not boxing out Carlos Boozer or something.

thats why I hate kobe, he didnt know how to pass the ball in the last minutes, when the team needed to do that, in the first half he was passing, and the lakers were up, but then the celtics were up, he tried to be the hero, and shot everytime he had the ball.

If Robert Horry or Sam Cassell were playing against the Houston Rockets, who would you cheer for? Would you want those guys to have success against Houston or not?

And this thread is further evidence you don't care for the current Rockets.

Congrats on using a basketball message board in 1999 BTW.

Wow! Between this and the other cheap shot you took at McGrady (basically the two main players on the current Rockets team), it's clear to me now why you don't even bother with the current Rockets team: you hate them. You're not even a Rockets fan anymore, your sole purpose of being on this board is to continue to bring up players from the 94-95 years every chance you get.

A cheap shot at McGrady earlier and now a cheap shot at Yao, and in BOTH cases none of these players' names were brought up. So are you a Clippers or a Celtics or a Spurs fan now?

I could replace the "Lakers" with "Detroit" and it sounds the same. The better team lost, just got out worked, outhustled, played bone-headed, etc, etc.

Defense and rebounding are constants--and they are not credited enough for Ws.

Kobe is going to have to play phenomenal for the Lakers to win this series, and he better start in game 2. Because I don't see this Boston team being beaten in 4/5 by any squad I have seen in a long time (Lakers 01 maybe, or Bulls before that).

How many 1 dimensional players played tonight for either team? The rox are further from this game than fans want to admit.

you're not tigermission1 anymore, you've turned into them.
those who seek glory by hatred of heroes. Like Alexander's generals who thought they were higher than the King.

but when I give you the taste of the same fruit you can't handle it. its hard to chew. Hate on a former hero in his last stand for glory? never.

    Kwame,
the Rockets are not in the playoffs. So that scenario is just another stupid what if scenario that the unpurists conquer up.

but root for the Lakers if you want. If I'm guilty for rooting for a Rocket that helped this organization reach its zenith, then i'm the Tony Montana of the 1999ers.

All of you who are putting down Cassell, Horry, T-Mac, and Yao are all wrong- that includes you, Jack Haley. If you're a true fan, just IMHO, you respect everyone who wore the Rockets uniform. Should we not give props to James Posey, a former Rocket? It's not just all about who brought us a championship. It's about any player who represented our team and tried to help us win. Using the term "heroes" for only those players who helped us win the championship is an insult to James Posey, Keith Bogans, David Wesley, John Barry, Cuttino Mobley, and anyone else who's worn the uniform- especially Yao and T-Mac.

Now, you boys go find a gym somewhere, play a game of Around the World, and make up.

So Pierce leaves the game injured then comes back five minutes later yet again? Wow, you would think people would see this coming by now.

Jump shots, jump shots, jump shots. The C's are a good team but the Lakers should and will take this series over despite this Game 1 setback. Gasol needs to take his dress off, Kobe needs to impose his will and the Lakers need to stop making the stupid mental errors. The C's are hopelessly predictable. STOP doubling KG. STOP biting on Pierce and Allen's pump fakes. STOP ignoring the role players that kill you if you don't respect them.

    Awesome point.

    James Posey
    Jon Barry
    Cassell

and even our dear coach JVG at on the telestraitor

there are different classes of heroes too. JVG is a hero, a tragic hero, but a hero!

tinman must be sam casells secret bf or something.. anytime there is anything negative about alien sam he jumps to his defense blindly.. i still remember the crazy same argument thread with Raid... whats the deal tinman? open your eyes. if sam was on the rockets and it was the rockets there i would be pissed... infact i was mad at sam tonight and i dont even like the celtics that much. he just kept on jacking up shots after making his first 3.. then he had stupid turn overs. and the one time for him to jack up a shot with the shot clock winding down he passes it!!!! sam sucked this game and has sucked all season. he's done. he was once a decent pg but now he just ugly to look at and he's a real ******* in person if you ever met him
