I just marked out hard in my room. My dog looked at me shocked and I cant blame her. That was the most epic thing they could have done.

Did they hire new writers or something? This cant be the same group of guys who wrote the last 5 years of BS we watched.

Cena pinned Rey Mysterio for the title, then a song came on the air no one has heard used for a wrestler, and OUT WALKED PUNK with the real unvacated title. They faced off in the ring and faded to black. REALLY cool.

During his Indy days, he used to come out to it.

I preferred his Miseria Cantre days, that song would be perfect if he was heel.

He is clearly a face right now...as evidenced by him playing to the corner crowds. CoP fits him perfectly.

I think it's very possible that this is Triple H's influence.

Vince was notorious for not knowing very much about new trends and relied heavily on other people plugging him in to what was new, who was out there, etc.

Triple H has been the one who supposedly turned them on to wrestlers outside of their usual sphere (Yoshi Tatsu, Sin Cara, etc.), and Vince was known to sign people he hadn't even seen before based on the recommendations of his cronies (Laurinaitus, Cornette in the past, Pat Patterson, etc.). There's a story in Mick Foley's first book where Mick talks about doing his first promo, asking how Vince liked it, hearing he was confused by it... then saying "I don't understand. I've been doing this for years" and hearing back... "Mick, I'm not sure he's ever seen anything you've done."

I think it's very possible this is a real shift to Triple H running things. Vince is old, and may legitimately be wanting to transition to retirement. Everyone knew Triple H would run it eventually. If this is his imprint on how things will go from now on, I'm back on board.

Yeah last night's ending was a definite mark out moment. "Cult of Personality" was Punk's ROH theme during his "Summer of Punk" gimmick, so it does have some history with him.

I also liked Cena's reaction when Punk raised his belt during the faceoff. Looked like he thought/realized his belt was a fake and Punk had the real one.

Watching a bunch of guys calling each other out as fakes in the ring, too much for me.

Either CM Punk retains or Cena turns Heel. If we get a face/face Cena victory it's over. The gimmick is dead. CM Punk carried Cena and HHH throughout that entire bit...

I think HHH will turn heel in someway. I really hope, if Punk loses, Trips causes him to lose and Cena turns so Punk's storyline can be taken to the next level as the chaser...much like Austin chasing after the Corporation.

The ending is what keeps me from tuning in week after week. Might have to order summer slam for this. CM PUNK is the stone cold of this era. God i hate john cena. When did he became fan loving patriotic. What ever happen to his gangsta rap? What a phoney

I thought Cena did a good job holding his own. Him and Punk feed off each other very well on the mic. I loved how Cena addressed those sad wrestling smarks with the comic book guy voice and the "five moves of doom". He's usually corny but that got me. HHH on the other hand doesn't even belong in the ring with them at this point. The Rock is becoming a joke. CM Punk keeps owning him weekly. All Rock does is make jokes about Cenas gear and tries to ride the cm punk train. No real substance at all.

It can still work with a Cena face victory. HHH can screw punk without cenas consent, that way keeping him at the tweener spot that has made this angle work so well. The kids love census so it would be dumb to turn him heel. A face Cena helps sell "the rebel" gimmick of Punk. He can't be a full blown face because he doesn't fit the "WWE mold" as he's been saying.
