Punk's contract is truly up and he was going to just leave but since this angle has exploded, Vince doesn't want to let it go so easily. I have to think Vince will re-sign him and just add it to the current angle. Punk has basically done what Rock/Stone Cold did, just be himself and once again it has worked.
I don't like Christian being heel. I rather have Randy Orton being a heel instead of Stone Cold lite. This Sin Cara guy. Swoly Knows him as Mistico. Damn. This dude messes **** up everywhere.
In fact Punk's contract was up a couple of weeks ago. WWE gave him a similar deal they Batista in that he would stay after a PPV and then maybe a couple of weeks after the fact. The WWE could easily reward Punk the title, have him lose it on Monday, and then send him on his merry way. Don't believe me? Go online and look at some wrestling websites (I use rajah.com) and they have been detailing this for weeks. It's not that the WWE doesn't want Punk, Punk doesn't want a long term deal with the WWE. He also wants to be the highlight of the WWE and between Cena and Orton there isn't really room for Punk. Punk has gone on record to say he wants the main event next year to be Stone Cold vs. Punk. He wants to be the main event, it's just the WWE doesn't see him as a headliner just yet...
Yeah, I read that but I have to imagine Vince was ready to let Punk walk and go with Orton and Cena but this past month changed things...IMHO. If Punk wouldn't have gotten the reaction he got from his semi-shoot when his storyline began then I think Vince just walks away. Problem is, Punk, nailed it and forced himself on the big stage and then some. If Stone Cold/Rock/HHH were able to co-exist during the attitude era then Cena/Orton/Punk could do it now....and I think will end up being the case but again just MHO.
I think you can have more than one or two faces. Orton could be the rock lite, and Christian can be the traditional good face. Then you have a chance to push a couple of good heels with them. I think WWE will also need to bring back some large factions. D-X vs. the Peoples nation, NWO vs. NWO Wolfpack were some of my favorite story lines. I'm not talking about just having one large group that gangs up on everyone (new Nexus), but something like a war where wrestlers in the org choose sides. They usually do two things well: push new wrestlers to stars much easier and make face heel turns that much more ingrained.
I hope you're right and that's how it ends up. I don't see it going down that way unfortunately. I really think Punk and Cena will have an amazing match tonight, and then Punk walks back to Ring of Honor or Japan or even TNA. I think he has something that the WWE just has a hard time cultivating. I love him because it's like he has the hardcore nature of a Jeff Hardy but none of the drug problems and a hell of a lot more mic skills. Hopefully Vince gets on his hands and knees and keeps this guy.
I miss the days when a WWF pay per view was $20 or $25 but my parents wouldn't let me order because could barely get by with basic cable. Im not paying $50 for this crap today
Cena ain't turning heel, there's too much money in Cena to do that. Punk has been great, but at the end of the day, WWE is a business so can he draw? That remains to be seen. I say they do a "screw job" ending. That way its more Vince vs Punk, punk gets his vacay, Vince keeps his title and Cena can still come off as the good guy. Punk is no idiot. He didn't do all this to leave WWE and later sign with TNA or some other Indy promotion. When he leaves, its to recharge his battery and then come back. Actually leaving WWE for another promotion at this point, after all hes done, would do nothing for Punk's career going forward.
Interesting twitter theory going around that Punk wins the title and Bryan cashes his shot in and becomes Vince's white knight by winning it back.
see how they're trying to make Orton look like Stone Cold Lite? Anyway, Can't wait for this match. You can already hear the Boos for Cena. I love it when they are in Chicago. Chicago is a fantastic market.
How long can a man wrestle? HHH was a heel in the 1990s. Wait I think this is wrestlemania 17 edit: Yeah this is from 2001
