Giannis game will not age well. To come here he will force a large long term contract (because he is not stupid). That is all that was stated. The Rockets will be overpaying for things that have happened as a Buck for the hope of it happening again as a Rocket. Giannis will be in Rocket red at 33% of the cap for 1/2 a decade.
Right as I have stated as much as well, However, Giannis on the front end gives us a better chance to win a title.
Such ludicrous and short sighted talk about Giannis... That's the opposite of what we need to be doing...the nightmare scenario. If us Geezers can wait out moving KD and Sengun for high quality young players and picks, then ...so can you. Stretch the timeline and get younger.
Very true. I think Orlando and Houston have the best assets while also being the only two teams with the remaining roster to actually contend. I think the Heat are also very involved too but just would have to gut their roster. I'd bet he is a Magic.
Was there anything I said that was untrue about your position? The fact of the matter is your plan or the owner's of competing is both a pretty low chance of achieving the contender or bust that you seem to be chasing. I am basing my opinions on reality where the owner is only going to trade KD if he wants out. Like it or not, it is a business where a lot of casual fans contribute to the bottomline.
Looking at the spurs and thunder progression, I really wish we went with more developmental coach even at the expense of winning.
my position is that I want us to keep trying to find a young franchise player. I think that’s reasonable. It’s literally Stone’s job. I don’t want to cash in our chips for 30 yr old stars making $60 mil that don’t even make us contenders in a shortened window. But look, if we don’t have to give up much for a guy like Jaylen Brown I’m okay with that. I just think we’re probably gonna give up too much and we still won’t really be contenders.
What is the list of 32 year or older players that were traded for using good young players and/or draft picks that resulted in a championship?
IDK off the top of my head, you can ask Gemini. What happens when you switch 32 year old with 30 year or 28 year old? What you are missing is what the FO wants to do and what they'll end up doing. Do you not think the FO prefers getting that next Haliburton (26 years old) or even a Mitchell (29) or Brown (29)? I think this championship or bust mindset you and others have just isn't how the ownership views it because I think they'd be thrilled to get a couple of WCF and even a NBA final under the belt like Wolves and Pacers.
i think most everybody in the draft has the potential to be an all NBA player - but very few players reach their potential...
I don’t disagree. We’re not a KD away from contention. And if we’re being honest, the WORST mistake management/ownership made was wildly missing where we were in the rebuild. Sometimes it makes me feel better to think we got KD to get out from under JG (I see you Jaygup!!) and as an asset KD is still more valuable.
