lotto! We need to keep taking swings until we find someone better than Amen. After 5 seasons of developing our “core” we have the data to understand that 1). we don’t have the talent of the top tier teams 2). The talent we do have doesn’t fit (which is much less of a concern for me). When I think about forgoing back to back talented drafts, given our current situation, I think it’s complete malpractice. We have several players and even pick assets that we should feel okay moving on from in exchange for a good lotto pick in this draft. KD should be the obvious first out the door, but I think those 2027 picks are worth giving up for a chance in this draft. And even much of the “young core” should be on the table for a swing at the lotto in this draft. We have the assets to dip into the well and we should be doing that because we just don’t have the top end talent. The question is, will ownership and the front office acknowledge this after 6yrs rebuilding, or are they going to keep chasing old stars in an effort not to get embarrassed in the playoffs? Staying the course is a dead end. You have to take some risks to be great. The draft is still our best chance to find a franchise guy under the age of 30.

#1 wish is for health in the coming season... i think this is a very different team with FVV and Adams...
People wanna discount FVV, but gd we needed a facilitator... and his 3pt shooting would also benefit giving some room to Alpi and Amen...
and Adams really helps mitigate Alpi's mediocre defense and rebounding...

Just give me a season where we arent missing 23% (FVV/Adams) of our cap players for most of the season... over 31% of the cap if u add DFS....

Consider that... we were missing nearly a third of our cap for most of the season... and still went .634

Take KD out for the playoffs - and we were missing nearly 47% of our cap in the post season...

#2 wish is for a solid bench... as opposed to Tari leading the league on 3pt% - and then falling off a cliff... just some freakin consistency...

Then the season after we got 2 frps... and that gives us greater assets for flexibility to enhance or pivot...

Yeah, would be nice to have someone shooting better than 37% from anywhere.

the Adams and Fred u think u know do not exist. Unrealistic to expect them to be the players they were, coming off injury in their 30’s.

I think we need to take some swings - but i dont believe the draft provides the best odds of a hit...
Everybody sees the draft picks that work out... but there are far more busts than benefits...

Conversely, trading for Harden, signing Brunson, trading for Shai... these are the types of moves that i'd like to see... idk that Stone is the guy to evaluate talent and make such successful moves (Brooks was a good signing) - but is there any confidence in his ability to draft the right guy?

Imo, the draft is such a needle in the haystack play - that I'd much rather gamble on somebody that has at least gotten his feet wet in the league...

Just pulling #s outta my butt... but I'd say the odds of a knowledgeable GM trading or signing a player that makes the jump to a star is 5%... but drafting a player at 4-20 that becomes a star is like 2%... again idk how that factors with Stone....

would we have been better or worse...
drafting Bari or trading that pick for a proven commodity?
    JG?
    Reed?
    Amen?

perhaps... but its not like these guys are athletic freaks that relied on a quick first step or burst that were playing above the rim...
I'd be far more concerned with a guy like Tatum or Haliburton coming off their injuries - given their game...

Obviously for these 2 its more about getting injuried again - given their age...
but FVV hasnt had an injury riddled career - Adams is another matter...
I'd be more confident if we had a coach that better utilized minute management among his older players... but given KDs mpg, I dont think that Ime is that guy...

That’s what I’m saying. Hopefully Stone, Ime, Fred, KD, Adams, and DFS can we all they can be next year and hopefully it’s so mediocre that it leads to a retool

The problem is that Murray is a better player than Durant. If they want to improve their team rather than plan for the future, it’s going to be tough to do, especially since they appear to be a first apron team.

I'm bullish on the value of those future picks. I would probably want more than anybody is willing to offer. For both, I'd want a top 6 or 7 pick.

I think that’s probably around fair value. But I dont think the nets would take the combined equivalent 13% chance at the #1 pick in a weak 2027 draft for the #6 in this generational draft. That tells us a lot about the value of those picks. But I hear ya. I’d be willing to throw in extra.

what I really want is to move KD for #5…even if it takes extra. That could really set us up for future success.

Would you do KD + Reed for Murray, or is that too much?

I would definitely do that. But with Murray being signed long term, I think it would cost extra picks.

Get rid of Sengun, Eason and Reed.

We need dawgs and high BB IQ and we might find those in this years of next years draft by collecting assets.

The only thing the team really needs is to get rid of Ime and replace him with someone who can be a top 25 NBA head coach. That massive upgrade alone would completely change the outlook of the franchise.

A year ago, the Knicks dumped their version of Ime Udoka and we saw how that worked out for them.

Sengun, FVV, and Reed for Ja Morant, Aldama, Clark and the no. 3 pick. Memphis probably declines. I would eat Morant’s contract for a chance at Boozer, Dybansta, or Peterson. Not sure how much Memphis would value Sengun over Edey though. Aldama is a good backup, so I might even include one of the 27 picks going back.

You might try to snooker Washington out of the no.1 pick with Sengun, Reed, and 2 27 picks for eating AD’s contract.
