    I believe its because the Best Buy's, Radio Shack's etc etc all have independant contracting to sell phones regardless of whos plan it is on.

    Its actually weird like that. I could of bought my Evo 4 from Sprint itself for 299 with a 100 dollar mail in rebate, or buy it from the Shack for 199 straight up, with a 20.00 credit towards merch and a 10 mail in survey rebate. Why would anyone buy straight from Sprint?

    Different sites are saying The Galaxy S/Vibrant will go on sale July 15th, a week earlier than announced.

    And now this...

    T-Mobile and HTC to launch first 21Mbps HSPA+ smartphone in September

    http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/07/t-mobile-and-htc-to-launch-first-21mbps-hspa-smartphone-in-sept/

    T-Mobile might be busy expanding its we-swear-it's-like-4G HSPA+ network to all sorts of metro areas in the US, but those theoretical 21Mbps speeds have been limited to those wielding WebConnect Rocket data cards, not any actual phones. It looks like that's about to change, though: a spokesman for T-Mobile parent company Deutsche Telekom told Light Reading that an HTC-built Android phone capable of HSPA+ speeds will launch in September, followed by another device in the fourth quarter sometime before the holidays.

    That lines up with what we've been hearing, as we've been told that the first device will actually be the leaked HTC Vision QWERTY slider (pictured above) that's been popping up in the wild lately. We're not so sure what the second phone will be, but we'll get there -- for now we're just stoked that another high-end Android set with a hardware keyboard will be making the scene.

    Looks like November might be a very big month for Android on T-Mobile after the above-mentioned HTC phone is launched.

    Remainder of T-Mobile 2010 Roadmap Reveals Android Phones from HTC, Motorola, and LG
    Posted by: Scott Webster

    July 7, 2010

    The team over at AndroidSpin have gotten their hands on what looks to be the roadmap for T-Mobile over the rest of the year. Judging by the looks of it, we'll be seeing at least five more Android phones from handset makers HTC, Motorola, and LG. Slated with a mid-November release, this would be the first Android handset designed by LG to arrive on T-Mobile. We can see the familiar codename of "Emerald" lined up with an HTC device with a tentative November 5th arrival. Before that though, we should be seeing T-Mobile and/or Motorola making an Android 2.1 announcement for their Cliq and Cliq XT handsets.

    As far as the other Android projects, I'm having trouble making out what they might be called. I've put together a bullet list to make sense out of the timeline as it pertains to Android phones. Any eagle-eyed folks out there able to make heads or tails out of the November devices? Does Jordan and Begonia look right?

    * myTouch 3G Slide (Maintenance Release?) - TBA July
    * Samsung Vibrant - July 21
    * Motorola Charm - July 21
    * Motorola Cliq, Cliq XT - Android 2.1 Update - TBA August
    * HTC Vanguard - September 9
    * Motorola Charm Maintenance Release? - TBA Sept
    * HTC Emerald - November 5
    * Motorola Jordan? - November 5
    * Motorola Begonia ? - November 5
    * LG Android phone - mid-November

    Depends on which OS you prefer. The hardware is near identical (both have processors which utilize a Hummingbird core, Samsung's GPU is slightly better, both have great screens with Sammys being a 4" 800x480 Super AMOLED and iPhone being a 3.5" super high res LCD)

    One which is highly customizable. Has apps like Google Navigation (free turn by turn directions)/Google Voice (voicemail transcription/call forwarding/free SMS and can use Fring to make calls over WiFi)/Swype (the way a touchscreen keyboard should be)/Adobe Flash (on 2.2 which the Galaxy S will be getting later this year) plus many tethering apps (2.2 will have WiFi tether built in but carrier can turn it off).

    One which is completely locked down, boring user interface (4x4 grid, nothing captivating about that). Not at all customizable. App store which needs Apple to decide whether or not the app is good for you. But has alot of apps with the largest selection of games. Though stuck to an overpriced inconsistent coverage carrier (which I happen to use lol).

    I am probably biased, I have an Android phone (Acer Liquid) and love it. I fully recommend it.

    I loved my myTouch when I first got it...now, with all the dropped calls, force closes and just slow everything, I can't wait to upgrade...but I have another 10 months or something like that...can't fn wait...

    Anyone else here with T-Mobile?

    What's the best Android phone out with there that's also relatively affordable?

    Whats your definition of affordable? Going with a contract, you're going to have to get a data plan which is an extra $25+ on top of your phone plan. Depending on current TMobile deals, there could be some free ones with contracts out there. The current best ones out there would be the Mytouch Slide, Samsung Galaxy or Nexus one (through google).

    Even with all the new phones coming to T-Mobile in the fall/winter, I'll probably still likely go with the Vibrant when it comes out next week.

    I love phones with actual keyboards. My G1 has a big crack on the screen and is about as raggity as a phone can be. Been waiting for a couple of months now for the Vibrant cause I didn't like any of the current Tmobile phones. Don't think I can wait for the Vision now. :( Plus it kinda looks ugly. Vibrant looks nicer and maybe I'll get used to the no keyboard thingy.

    I don't understand why t-mobile doesn't have a keyboard on it. The same phone is going over to sprint with a physical keyboard. I really like the vibrant though. I want to see that screen in person to see if it's that much better.

    I used to think having a physical keyboard is a must-have, but I am perfectly fine with the Android's default virtual keyboard which, apparently, is pretty bad as far as virtual keyboards go.

    Maybe it's because I don't have fat fingers making it easier.

    Swype is an awesome virtual keyboard I have installed on my android/windows mobile phone but it still has no where near the speed of a physical keyboard. I still pull out the slide out keyboard when I need to type a long email and send it out quick. I could probably get used to a virtual keyboard but I'd still prefer a slide out if at all possible.

    Swype though is slowly making a cause for not having a physical keyboard though.
