We really need to get some advances in battery technology before we start going hogwild with these 1.5 ghz dual cores and such.
This is a bit disappointing: T-Mobile Posts Samsung Vibrant Mini FAQ/Official Images http://www.tmonews.com/2010/06/t-mobile-posts-samsung-vibrant-mini-faqofficial-images/ For the last few days the Samsung Vibrant has been the worst kept secrets in the T-Mobile world. In light of all the hoopla these past few days, T-Mobile has posted a mini FAQ on their forums which sheds a little light on the phones and raises one major concern. The third bullet point highlights that the Vibrant is not going to be an HSPA+ device, ummm why not? Was this a Samsung decision or a T-Mobile one? Considering Samsung’s Behold 2 history, we’ll just a finger in their direction until we get more details. Seriously though, that’s a likely deal killer for many as T-Mobile hypes up their HSPA+ network and a future premiere device won’t be able to readily take advantage of it. Yes, we know that having the network itself helps the phone’s data speeds, but not to be able to take advantage of the peak speeds offered across the network brings a real sad face. Either way, check the details below and see if anything else interests you! T-Mobile Hardware * The Vibrant offers a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor which is optimized for superior media viewing and game play. * The Vibrant has a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED touch screen display that gives you a bright, vivid viewing experience. * The Vibrant benefits from enhanced speeds with T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network, but it’s not an HSPA+ device. * The Vibrant is one of the slimmest smartphones on the market. The dimensions are 4.82” x 2.54” x 0.39”; weighs 4.16 oz. * The Vibrant’s 5 MP camera is equipped with digital zoom and autofocus. Comes with an HD video recorder too! Entertainment/Apps * The Vibrant is ideal for consumers who are entertainment enthusiasts and want to combine entertainment and communication in one device. The Vibrant offers a ton of entertainment options. We’ll have more to share on this front when the countdown reaches zero. Software/OS * The Samsung Vibrant is powered by Android 2.1 software . * The Vibrant supports personal and corp. e-mail, including MS Exchange, Gmail and most other POP3 and IMAP e-mail services.
For whatever reason it's called the Vibrant for T-Mobile USA. It'll be officially announced Tuesday for sale in July. From what I gather, it not being an "HSPA+" device it will not be able to take full advantage of of T-Mobiles HSPA+ network. Can anyone shed more light on this? Here's some info on the network: http://androidandme.com/2010/06/carriers/t-mobile-news/is-your-city-getting-t-mobile-hspa-coverage/
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/06/28/t-mobile-vibrant-199-99-on-july-21st/ The Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant has been a long time coming, but today an official release date and pricing were finally announced. As of July 21st, T-Mobile will be selling the Vibrant for $199.99, that price of course assuming a new 2-year contract. T-Mobile might have a bit of a tough sell on its hands considering that AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and even U.S. Cellular will be offering the Galaxy S in one form or another, but T-Mobile has a trick up its sleeve: anyone who purchases a Vibrant will get a free copy of The Sims 3 Collectors Edition, and a 2GB microSD card pre-loaded with Avatar. Triple win, right?
t-mobile version with no slide out keyboard but the sprint version has it? Now I'm less likely to get the t-mobile version.
Really looking into getting the HD2. Downside of course is that it does not run Android. You guys think I should get the HD2 and find some droid hack (which are already out there)...or just getting something like this Samsung galaxy which looks pretty promising?
No Android hack available for HD2 yet but there is good progress being made currently. Might see a rudimentary version in a couple weeks. However, it will still have WM on it and you have to launch Android manually I believe. Here's the development twitter: http://twitter.com/htc_linux
Anyone able to successfully install Android onto their HD2? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BujRY_q53JI Looks pretty good to me
Not sure if this is a "hack" but it sure does seem to work. Something all HD2 owners need to watch!! <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6UD0IIqAYJ0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6UD0IIqAYJ0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Should I get the Samsung or switch to AT&T and get an iPhone? I might have to break my contract, but I'm not sure if it'll be worth it
i dont think there is a world of difference. there both just phones and you will probably be content with both.
Nice write up in PC World after Tuesday's official announcement: http://www.pcworld.com/article/200148/samsung_galaxy_s_shines_at_new_york_launch.html Also coming to Spring, ATT and Verizon..
Except you fail to mention the fact that the EVO has 8 MP camera not a 5, mobile hot spot for up to 8 devices, an HDMI port, 4G speed, front facing 1.3 MP video conferencing camera, and the kick stand. Just a few differences.
I don't know the ins and outs of phone contracts, but why can you pre order the Vibrant at Radio Shack today and not the T-Mobile site?
