Damn, there needs to be a high powered android phone with a slide out keyboard! Not a big fan of touch screen keyboards but I guess I can manage.
Sorry on Derailing this thread but i was just curious besides the operating system what are the down-points of the HTC HD2? I am very interested in getting this phone mainly because of the size of the touch screen area..I have large fingers and i tend to have problems with smaller screens..
You aren't familiar with this phone: http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/t-mobile-mytouch-3g/4505-6452_7-34083290.html My son wants one for his birthday next month soooooo bad. One feature I like a lot is speaking text messages.
It is not upgradeable to windows mobile 7. This is main draw back, going from windows 6.5 to 7 will be a major upgrade.
The only thing that would keep me from getting this phone is the build quality with too much plastic and not enough metal. That super AMOLED screen sure is gourgeous though.
Gonna be called Vibrant, not Galaxy S. Love the specs. http://www.cellphonesignal.com/excl...ew-samsung-vibrant-galaxy-s-for-t-mobile-usa/ YEAH BABY! .. we got the big piece.. who wants the iPhone 4 when T-Mobile has a better one, the new Samsung Vibrant, aka Galaxy S, aka T959. As you remember, we were the first ones to find out about this phone a while ago. Then FCC approved this jewel few days ago. Now, rumors are becoming a fact. This July 21th T-Mobile is planing something BIG, launching its new Android Phone, Samsung Vibrant. The Samsung Vibrant is apparently coming with The Sims 3 game on board, Avatar, Amazon Kindle, GoGo in-flight Internet support, and an HD camcorder. Naturally, the device will have access to the Android Market where one can already find plenty of great applications, so I guess content won’t really be a problem. Powered by Android 2.1, the smartphone boasts a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz processor , a 5-megapixel camera with HD video capture and is the first phone with Samsung’s new Smart Life user interface. Other features include FM radio, Bluetooth 3.0 digital compass, WiFi b/n, GPS, 16GB of memory and microSD card slot.
3.5mm jack? sounds kind of silly but t-mobile leaving that out on their touch pro 2 is such an annoyance for me. having to carry about that extra adapter is such a pain in the butt. Really trying to decide between this phone and the Dell Streak. Do I really need an extra inch? I'm sure it would look fantastic though. All I know is I'm definitely moving to Android for my next OS. I kind of want to wait to see what Windows Mobile 7 is all about though.
Wow @ 16GB internal memory for the Vibrant. That's solid given the fact that you can also expand via microSD.
I have a list of features I'm looking for with a new phone and if the Vibrant has all that, then I'm sold. Otherwise, looks like I'm waiting for the Dell Streak.
T-Mobile will officially announce the Vibrant/Galaxy S Tuesday. Do they normally start taking pre-orders then? Still seems it won't be available until July 21st.

Dual Core Processor HTC Vision Hitting T-Mobile This Holiday? http://www.tmonews.com/2010/06/dual-core-processor-htc-vision-hitting-t-mobile-this-holiday/ Posted at 7:19 pm UTC, June 25th, 2010 by David. Lets just throw this out there right away and say while its highly possible, we’re going to stick this rumor firmly in the rumor category. Last night, during the Androidguys Podcast, Scotty Brown, an Androidguys writer discussed a conversation he had with an HTC rep at an event. Apparently, this HTC rep confessed to a super device coming to T-Mobile later this year. With a 4.3 inch screen, 800mhz dual core processor, Android3 (Gingerbread) and perhaps an 8 megapixel camera this device certainly can get some hopes up. With that said, Androidguys (or at least Ray from Androidguys) went so far as to personally guarantee his belief that this phone is the fabled Project Emerald device. Ray believes this device will be the HTC Vision. Information regarding the HTC vision that leaked in May definitely hinted toward a T-Mobile launch. With the belief that Project Emerald was an HTC device with a Qwerty keyboard, something the Vision is alleged to have so it’s definitely well within possibility. However, at this point its easy to point fingers at any HTC phone heading T-Mobile’s way and call it Project Emerald so won’t go as far as he was, but we’re not saying its wrong either. That being said, it’s been weeks since we last heard anything about Project Emerald on our side and to that end, we’re not saying what it could be or couldn’t be until we get something more concrete. Predicting a super phone by the end of the year is highly logical, as we know phone manufacturers have stated their wish to place dual core processors inside cell phones by years end. Therefore, its quite likely we might see this device or something like it as HTC sounds like a logical manufacturer considering they seem to be far and away leading the Android device development front.
So, this is a Google Nexus One/HTC Desire with a slide out QWERTY keyboard? Sweet! Sign me up for this one!
