Excuse me for derailing the thread a little. I am going to France, England next month and want to use my T mobile phone. This page does not even list Europe. Am I looking at the wrong place? http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/prepaidrates.aspx
If you already have a T-mobile plan, you're looking at the wrong page. http://www.t-mobile.com/International/RoamingOverview.aspx?tp=Inl_Tab_RoamWorldwide Scroll down and select the country and it will give you rates.
Ok . Thanks. ... I read your link and it says $1.24 / minute for France/ UK ? Wow, that's more than what it costs to call from the US to there.
It looks like T-mobile might be getting more phones compatible with its 3g bands, by that I mean it will most likely be unlock but will still work for T-mo. The Motorola MILESTONE XT720 looks like it might be compatible with the T-mobile 3g bands and it looks good. An 8 megapixel camera with xenon flash 720p / 24fps video, with a 3.7-inch screen. And the Nokia N8 looks to definitely make waves as it is also rumor to be compatible with T-mobile 3g and this one is the one I hope will be just as they advertise And of course the Dell mini 5/ streak looks kind of funny but ever get an update from 1.6 to 2.1 it could be something I would look into.
Don't know if this has been posted already, didn't see it earlier, so thought I'd pass it along. Apparently, June 19th T-Mobile is rolling out a free cellphone give away day with all family plans. All cell phones. Free. http://gizmodo.com/5559533/t+mobile-is-making-all-its-phones-free-on-june-19th
I posted a link earlier in the thread. By "all" do they mean the Nexus One, too, since Google is no longer going to sell it online?????
A 1GHz processor like the SnapDragon is the best processor for an Android phone at this time. Samsung and Apple have developed their own in-house 1GHz processors but they should be around the same level as the 1 GHz SnapDragon. I'm also not sure if Apple underclocked their 1GHz A4 for the iPhone 4 since they didn't specifically mention clock speed like they did for the iPad (1GHz A4), so it might actually be running at 800MHz to conserve battery. Android 2.2 has not been released yet. Google has said it's still in testing and will be released "soon". There were test versions sent to some Nexus Ones, which is what people who claim to have 2.2 have. The final, complete version of 2.2 is supposedly going to hit Nexus Ones sometime this month. For now though, 2.1 is still the latest version, so current 2.1 phones aren't behind yet. Though from previous update experiences, it is clear that customized interfaces like HTC's Sense UI and Samsung's TouchWiz do end up delaying updates. Google also has said that they will eventually slow down to about 1 update a year so this becomes less of a problem. The N1 isn't apart of T-Mobile's line-up; Google has complete control. T-Mobile pays Google for new contracts that they get users to sign-up for, which is what helps subsidize it for $179, but it's still solely an unlocked Google controlled phone. Google is still selling it online, but they said that other retailers like Amazon and Walmart might sell it. Either unsubsidized or with their own contracts through T-Mobile AT&T.
Anyone heard anything about "project emerald", meaning a new secret phone for T-Mobile in the works? I ran across that in a comment thread about the Galaxy S and found this: http://phandroid.com/2010/05/12/t-mobiles-project-emerald-to-bring-us-a-new-android-phone/ T-Mobile’s Project Emerald To Bring Us A New Android Phone This Month? by Quentyn Kennemer on May 12th, 2010 Whether or not you’re a fan of T-Mobile’s secret “projects” (with the most recent being the long-speculated Project Dark that brought some interesting plan options to the carrier) they probably interest you just as much as the biggest magenta fanboys themselves. A new project name is being thrown around – Project Emerald – and this time it looks like it focuses on a specific device. A source of TmoNews’ states that the project will bring T-Mobile a “new Nexus One-like device” that’s going to be sold and marketed by the carrier both online and in stores. There is one phone that immediately comes to mind that fits the bill of a Nexus-like device: the Samsung Galaxy S. It’s been rumored for a while to come to T-Mobile, now, and this could be a small grain of hope that the rumors turn out to be true. Of course, more Nexus-like would be an HTC Desire which a couple of smaller regional carriers in America are already getting. Or it could be something totally different. No one knows, but we’re going to keep our eyes glued to the scene, in the mean time, as we hope to lay any information we can find out onto the table (hopefully this month as a TmoNews commenter reminds us that Emerald is one of the birth stones for May).
All I can say is if you're on a prepaid plan, there may be huge limitations on where you can roam. Otherwise, call customer service, have them activate you for international roaming (they will run another credit check) and enjoy yourself overseas. What's interesting with T-Mobile is the strength of signal overseas is sometimes much stronger than here.
After being with TMobile and its predecessors for over ten years, I recently switched to Verizon to get the Motorola Droid. Love it.
CDMA Fail, but Android is Android and we're all competing against the iPhone so I won't knock you to much
