Got the text with shipping info today, my G2 is arriving Friday. I'm looking forward to the fast speed compared to the unlocked iphone I have now: http://www.androidcentral.com/how-fast-g2-hspa <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AEzWHuNiXwQ?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AEzWHuNiXwQ?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Liking the Vibrant so far. My service switched over sometime in the middle of the night. I can send and receive calls and texts, however, anything involving data isn't working for me (except wifi). Does the send and receive data on your phone typically lag behind the actual phone service switch? I wouldn't know because I've never changed services before.
Current t-mobile customers could pre-order this a week ago and will be receiving them starting Wednesday.
As mentioned, current customers can pre-order and many have already received theirs. Mine will be here tomorrow. Here's another speed test: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jaYks8qHD1w?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jaYks8qHD1w?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
That'll probably be my new phone when the holidays come out and they'll likely have a great deal going on. Contract expires then too.
Got mine today. I haven't gotten the chance to play with it. So far it's a really smooth interface phone.
I've had the G2 for almost a full day and love it. I still have a lot to figure out about it (including running an app killer or something to keep the batt from draining so fast). I clocked a 7.1 mbps download speed, most averaging in the 5.5-6.5 range.
The new MyTouch has already been announced as well as that new Motorola phone. BTW anyone here thinking of buying the new Nokia N8?
I am so in love with the Vibrant. Man, what a kickass phone. Battery is a bit on the weak side, but that's moreso because of the performance/features of the phone. Other than that, smooth sailing.
I don't think its even necessary for "app killers" in android. Don't think it terms of Windows. Its nothing like having multiple windows programs open at the same time.
No but they are good to have to kill apps that suck battery dry. Not to mention the rare occasion when your phone starts to lag a bit.
Got the G2. If anybody want to upgrade or get a new account for the g2 for 149.99. Then head on over to radio shack. You can also trade in your phone towards the credit on the new phone. Everything is perfect minus the falsely advertise on the hardware specs. Eternal memory has 1.19 gb space available. Where the heck is the other 2.81 gb for a total of 4 gb?!?!?! I know the os doesn't take up that much memory nor have i downloaded any apps. Other then that, it's a uber phone. Everything i want out of my old nexus one with a keyboard how i missed so badly.
I've had mine 3 days now and like it more each day. Even with the keyboard I'm loving swype and don't know how I got by without it. How/where do you check your internal memory?
just got mine in tonight. This is my first Android phone guys. I'd appreciate any helpful tips, suggested apps, accessories. Thanks.
menu > setting > sd & phone storage and then check your internal phone storage available space apps : Just search for these must have apps IMO uninstaller pro(easy way to delete unwanted apps without leaving a feedback) ringdroid (custom ring tone. Take a music and cut anywhere you like to have it as your ringtone) battery indicator (tells you the percentage life of your battery) advanced task killer (kill unwanted apps to prolong your battery)
Wait. I thought it was 4GB of ROM? Also, i notice it doesn't have native tether support and that might be a slight deal breaker for me.
I still really want this phone, but I'm glad I took a friend's advice and decided to wait. G2 Problems Start Surfacing
