I heard the fan vote is only a tiny portion of the total vote, so I'm not going to get my hopes up. As to them being snubbed, I think the establishment voters hate the heavy libertarian bent, especially songs like Anthem, The Trees, and Something for Nothing. Too bad for them. I think Rand was a sociopath, but I still love Rush's music, everything up to Power Windows is pure prog rock brilliance.

PS, many Rush fans think they peaked with 2112, other Rush fans think they peaked with Moving Pictures. They're both wrong. Rush hit their high water mark with Signals, a perfect blend of prog, synth, and hard rock.

    Permanent Waves
    Moving Pictures
    Signals

    Christ, what a magnificent run.

Rush is still peaking. Don't give me this peaked crapola.

Yea...I understand you old schooler mindsets. It doesn't apply globally. Many fans never left. Sure, there were some lulls...particularly in the 90s.

But, they never stopped evolving. You just didn't like the direction after a certain point. I think some of their best work has been since 2000. Hard to listen to this new album and claim they only peaked back in 1980 or something. They are playing like they are 30 years old.

In fact, the band is as popular now as they have ever been...especially after the "Beyond the Lighted Stage" documentary. One could easily argue they are peaking now with all the recognition, the documentary, great new album reviews, etc. .

If anyone hasn't seen them live before, I would suggest you do.

Popular high water mark is a lot like a late induction to the hall. Who cares. The dudes still rock it like few if any can, and the shows seem to get better and better. They just jam. It doesn't take a Rush fan to enjoy a Rush show, it just takes someone who appreciates a great rock and roll show. These guys bring it. Every time.

Maybe your favorite was on Fly By Night, maybe you never liked anything but 2112, maybe you just can't believe how good the latest album is... and maybe you just enjoy a great drum solo that seems to come from someone driving the spaceship in Close Encounters of the third kind.... there's room for everyone.
