He's actually been doing those covers for a lot of the tour (ZRB was at the Seattle show where he first played Brown Sugar), but that was the first live Yea, Heavy ever. Glad you had a good time.
The concert sounds awesome across110thstreet! I'm really curious: "Why does it pain you to include Bruce Springsteen? "
vj: I don't have any serious beef with Springsteen. I just don't care for him. And I REALLY didn't care for him being called a next Dylan. I love Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, etc. (all "next Dylan" types) but I've never much liked Springsteen. I recognize the Dylan influence though, so I included him.
I forgot to say how I feel about Leonard Cohen. Um, OK, I suppose. To be frank I'm going to need some more time with him... I am only cursorily familiar... what do you recommend? By the way Elvis: it's not your fault, B. I was emotionally Dylan-unenthused before I met you. I'm the same about Springsteen. I've even seen him live, and he was good, and I like 'Born to Run' as much as the next girl, and everything... but no. Just not me.
