Announces deletion of Facebook, for being time consuming With 7500th tweet on Twitter Posts in InstaGram instead, owned by Facebook Whats the point of it all? Migrating from one to the other. Social media never guaranteed that it can be a non-stop cocktail party for you forever. You and your contacts and life can get older and boring. I signed up on Google Plus and don't use it, and that same approach applies to Facebook. Its what it is, like a live yearbook that you open up once in a while. Its a tool you control, it doesnt control you.
there was a thread about some dude here who wasn't sure if he should go to his high school reunion. too lazy to look for it, but i find it a bit interesting. Yearbooks are so dead and over now. It's just like newspapers. Anyway, what I find interesting is that you had to go back to your reunion to see what's up with people these days. Now you don't. You know exactly what's happening, even when you don't give a ****.
Oh I know that they will keep your information in their database, but I was replying to the other poster who said you can only "deactivate". If you actually delete it, you won't be able to reactivate your account, but of course FB will still have all your information.
> Deletes Facebook > Logs onto online message board > Creates a thread about deleting facebook because he has better things to do The ironing is delicious.
I really don't understand the FB hate. Is it a trend? Something people claim to hate to be cool? Look, I completely understand that sometimes you log in and it's pointless status updates from someone you met twice talking about their breakfast cereal of choice. But, it's also amazing for keeping connected with people you don't see often, finding old friends and especially if you're someone like me who used to move A LOT and has family in all parts of US, Canada, Zimbabwe, Zambia, all over Europe, etc. it's better than having to make dozens of long distance phone calls a week. For example, my uncle took a picture of me and my niece a few days ago. That picture was "liked" by a family member in Australia and a buddy of mine I haven't seen in at least 10 years (who just posted pictures of his 6 year old daughter earlier). They were looking at the picture 30sec. after it was taken. That to me outweighs all the pointless, useless B.S. that comes along with Facebook.
I use it for promoting gigs. It's a great tool for that. ..however... Can't stand the people who post every bit of their lives on FB.
Because it makes sense and CF doesn't have much of it... I still have mine but I rarely log on. I mostly just use it to keep in touch with relatives and friends who live far away.
There is nothing wrong with Facebook unless someone makes it it wrong. I use it to stay conenected with friends and family. I have done a few cleanups, but I can say that who is left has value to me. You seem all or nothing and unstable and probably should avoid everyone.
Facebook is just a front for Big Brother, except that Big Brother doesn't have to do any work. The account owners willingly tell the world their whereabouts. i love facebook though. i think it's great you can easily connect with people from anywhere. and if i don't like someone's posts, i hide them. or better yet, delete them from your friends list because more than likely i was never actually friends with them int he first place.
i like the occasional update, but yea i don't need to know what you had for breakfast, lunch and dinner. what i find disturbing are parents who document every step of a pregnancy. announce that you're pregnant. ok. i don't need to see a pic of your protruding belly with an enlarged belly button that looks like something that could be a stand in for the next alien movie.
What's even worse than that is when they have the kid then post a status update about the kid every few hours. This is why I don't get on FB much anymore. I'm in my mid-20s so many of my friends are (accidentally) having kids nowadays.
This. I avoided having an account for a long time. Set it up (should say, my wife set it up for me) last year. I'm not on there all of the time. I've gotten in touch with some people I probably wouldn't have otherwise. Just like anything else in like, use it in moderation. If you can't control yourself so much that you have to announce to the world that you deleted your account, they it would seem you're the one with the problem...not those of us that have an account and can resist the urge to look at it 72 times a day.
it's funny. girls who are insecure about their bodies would never post a bikini pic. but put a baby in them, then it becomes pregnancy fat and think no one will judge them.
