    well said.

i remember hearing, on nba tv one night, a coach saying that he watches the last 4 games of his next opponent. and he does this weather or not the national media is talking about them!

by the way, one reason that NONE of us should like Stephen A. Smith are his initials: SAS = San Antonio Spurs. i even think the A stands for Antonio. if so, he should be banned from any discussion on this board! :p

You do? It makes no difference to me. Fact is, the more negative stuff I hear about "my teams", the more I feel committed to them. I've never cared who else likes or dislikes them. I don't really require this type of approval from others. Win or lose, I still like 'em and support 'em.

Everyone seems to think he is the know all end all, but in reality, he is just another fan that gets to talk on TV and he is also a bandwagon jumper!!!

Agreed, I don't feel like we should get that much respect anyways and I have no problem with that.

Playoffs is where players make a name for themselves and where teams make a name for themselves as well. This is exactly why every team plays for the playoffs.

    Playoffs > Reg. Season

    Finally some friggin respect.

We go as far as Yao Ming takes us...and as far as Ron Artest ALLOWS Yao to take us.

The Cheesy-Poof man often fluctuates with support and hatred for the Rockets.

His rationale is usually based on his mood at the moment, or if he was able to yell enough throughout the day to prove a point.

Only true Rockets fan, and the Rockets themselves, know what the potential for success.

I'd like to think that the majority of society likes to hear about their team through the national media in a positive fashion. I'm basing this opinion on the 100s of threads that either bash an analyst for a negative Rockets opinion or praise an analyst for a good Rockets opinion.

Thats nice that thats not how you are, but I'm just explaining why people like it when other people acknowledge their team as being good.

Do we need this so-called 'respect' anyways? Every time people give us credit or praise us, we manage to underwhelm. I'd prefer the Rockets stay under the radar and make some noise in the playoffs rather than all these journos going nuts over us only for us to crap out in the first round. One game at a time.

It's roughly the same train of thought "criticizing my use of the military is bad for national security".

Too bad most groups don't base plans for dealing with their opponents on public opinion polls (campaigning politicians partially excluded).

I really can't wait for the ability to edit my posts :)
