The layups were just one scenerio out of many that happens on the court. But if the usual assessment of a big on the bench is he gives 6 fouls, whats the use if that big doesnt even foul? Understandably you dont want to risk injury in the preseason...Still it was a tight ball game late in the game, it wasnt a blowout. In my valuation its showing initiative to make a key stop that EARNS a player some playing time. The kind of initiative and alertness Pops is showing.
Barry is retiring. He's not going to come back unless he gets traded from the team. That was his statement a while back.
They are going to keep both, Doresy will just be sitting in a suit. Budinger can play an emergency point if we need it
We bought 2 picks in the second round. We picked JT first Blair went like 3 or 4 spots below jt in the 2nd rounf.. We got Chase even further down and he looks like he is better than JT right now any way.
He is a lot better than JT right now......JT is a better athlete, Chase is a better basketball player. DD
That's not a good analogy. We have BOTH JT and Budinger rite now. The question is whether they will be able to play in the regular rotation instead of NBDL. And that depends on their own performances not the GM's decision.
And in order to buy picks, you need someone willing to sell. And I would bet money that San Antonio wasn't eager to sell someone like Blair.
But if I'm correct, we didn't buy the picks. We bought the rights to the players AFTER the players were drafted by the Pistons/Nuggets etc. So we weren't getting Blair like that if San Antonio didn't want to give him away (and they definitely don't as Timmy's getting old)
Last game, Channing Frye breaks out for 22 pts with 8-12 FG and 6-7 3pters, and 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Frye will average more pts , 3's and rebounds than Andersen with better defense for a cheap price. He would have been a better pick up than Pops and Andersen that would get more minutes than either one.
I doubt that he would get that kind of opportunity with Landry and Luis. If it was just one of them, then it's possible he would have gotten more minutes here. Also, our PG's are no where near Nash's caliber,so it's very unlikely for him to put up anywhere near those kind of numbers in Houston, even though he is better than Pops and Andersen.
I think Andersen will end up being a very good player. Just over the last couple of games, he has shown great improvemnet. He has been a winner most of his career and has qualities that compliment his teammates. Once RA figures how to use him, look for the Rockets to exploit certain matchups.
That game was against Golden State, a team whose defense is nonexistent right now. I don't think Frye will continue to put up those numbers.
