I would take Pops over Dorsey just based on the NBA experience. Pops is an absolute mess on the offensive end and Dorsey is worse. Dorsey may be bigger but Pops is just as athletic, the guy flies out of the gym. Dorsey just hacks away like he has a bet riding on how quickly he can foul out.
I thought Stern gave Morey an extra spot in the roster do to yao being out the whole season? If i remember correctly Yao won't count as 1 of the 15 spaces.
I knew what you meant--but your saying that we would be using Cook's expiring contract as a valuable trade piece? That route may be plausible but Morey could easily just let everyone expire and try his luck with the 2010 FA market. I was suggesting that since we're already into luxury tax we are trying to shed off Cook's contract to get below the lux tax. Exactly like a SF3 contract dump.
Pops is superior offensively to Dorsey. Pops is better in every phase of the game than Dorsey. The only thing Dorsey can do better than Pops is lift a barbell.
I would keep Dorsey. Many people said Pops has more nba experience. But, with that experience, there is still no team that wants give him a guaranteed contract. I think it means a lot about his 'experience'. Dorsey is still a project, has potential. The rockets should give him a chance.
Hey I cant even debate you on that, I completely agree. I find Andersons "softness" unbearable. I dont know if anyone noticed but can someone teach Anderson how to set a proper pick? He moves his feet constantly, and I dont know if its just preseason, or these replacement refs but most of the time he is getting away with it. When the regular season starts I dont see him getting away with it. .... Or maybe I just think that will be the case beacuse of the awful officiating at times when it came to Yao. How dare I even mention Andersons name in the presence of Ming Yao
Pops got a qualifying offer from Toronto, but they decided to rescind it in order to pay for Turkoglu. If Dorsey wasn't already on the books, then Pops would be a better bet to get a guaranteed contract with the Rockets this season than him.
The 11th and 12th roster spots are not about who can contribute this year; if you're that far down the bench, you won't. Look at Von Wafer; for all the Wafer-love on this board, neither his presence nor absence will significantly affect any team this year. Ditto last year's heart-throb, Gerald Green. The spots at the end of the bench are for the players that have the long-term potential. I don't think the Rockets have given up on Dorsey yet. As for these other guys, Budinger is the real deal; the others are maybes at best.
It is scary. David Andersen can NEVER play center. It is impossible. Pops and Carl can NOT play center. That leaves us with Scola and Chuck as the only players that can guard C's somewhat respectably. To be honest with you, I think Dorsey and his 6 fouls could be valuable in the long run. PF: Carl Landry Pops Mensah-Bonsu David Andersen C: Chuck Hayes Luis Scola Joey Dorsey (Obviously we start Chuck and Scola together most nights...)
"You see things completely different from most of the posters here." Dorsey - guaranteed contract, dominant summer league 8 10.26% Pops - More NBA experience, and not as prone to fouling 70 89.74% What was that you were saying W22?
What if they don't keep Conroy and hang on to it to take a look at McCants later on like they have planned?
I dont think Conroy or Cook makes the team i think the last 2 of 3 spots will go to Pops and Dorsey while the last spot bearing any injuries will go to McCants. They will just hang on to Cook's contract as long as possible same as Barry, but Les will be paying the LT he has done it before.
