Conroy has had the ball in his hands a lot more, because he's the PG. But I like the way Temple has played the game. Again, nothing spectacular, but just very solid. I like how he defends, in particular.
I think you're correct. The problem with Dorsey is between his ears. I think Adelman will give him a chance, but if he expects to get minutes without trying to improve on defense,he could be gone. Pops is a harder worker.
Conroy is not a bad pg. But, he is small. Brooks and Lowry are both small. If the rockets want a 3rd pg, I think that pg should be a bigger one. From what I saw in the preseason games, our bigs couldn't stop the opponents if they didn't foul. We need more bigs to deal with foul trouble. I think both Dorsey and Pops should stay.
I think you are onto something about a bigger PG, I liked that guy in SL last year...from Uraguay, wasn't it? But since he is not here, I think they might keep Conroy.... Assume for the fun of it you have to make a choice....between Pops and Dorsey for the last roster spot......that is what this thread is about. DD
Neither are true centers nor great defenders. While Pops is athletic, he still has the tendency to give up more points than he prevents. He has no post moves whatsover aside from putbacks and dunks. On the other hand, not much can be said about Dorsey's offensive repertoire either. In the end, we're comparing two undersized twelfth men who really shouldn't be out there on the floor unless we're under massive foul trouble.
I wouldn't be. Just giving my opinion, but I'm sure they have a lot more to go on than I do so I'll trust their judgment.
Really, there are 3 possible combinations: Conroy/Dorsey Conroy/Pops Pops/Dorsey Personally, I think it'll be both Pops and Dorsey since Dorsey has the guaranteed contract.
It will probably be Pops and Dorsey, with the Rockets looking to trade Dorsey and/or Cook during the season to reduce their LT.
No doubt, but that might not happen until the trade deadline....as teams fall out of contention and look to jettison longer term deals for shorter term ones... DD
Not sure how this will play out. Morey sure suprised me last year by keeping Wafer over Mike Harris, a guy I like a lot. Another thing I am somewhat curious about is whether Yao Ming will be trying to recruit a Rockets reject or two for the team he owns in China.
Nice post. Good comparison of each player's weaknesses. It could be a tough year, based on our center position.
actually I lost my internet connection around the same time. Though I was watching the stream when it happened so who knows which came first , the script or the internet fail. oh alright, I voted I really wish there was a way to dump brian cook off on someone though.
I don't think that "jettison out long deals for short deals" idea applies here. Its not like we want to get anything in value back for Cook-we just want his salary and roster spot squatting gone while costing us as little as possible. Teams around the trade deadline wouldn't want Brian Cook anyways for anything they'd give us that Morey would want.
No you are missing the point, they would get rid of players that have LONGER term deals to get Cook's expiring contract. We would be getting back pieces from teams that are blowing theirs up.....capeche? DD
