So we're going to go back to the good old heiroglyphics, are we? ------------------ [This message has been edited by rock (edited August 27, 2000).]
"Alaskansnowman- so your saying that if we have a chance to acquire a future allstar in next year's draft, you would pass on him and acquire a solid player instead? hmmmm. -NOMAR It depends on what kinda player he is. REally, we got so many people right now, that it'll be hard to spread the minutes around. I think Langhi will be a good if not great player in the league. Then, if Walt continues playing well, we prolly won't trade him(especially with the chemistry he's gotten with the club). And in order for Mobes to get enough minutes, then we gotta play Anderson at the sf also. We're gonna have to get rid of Walt/Langhi in order to give an "all star" 3 good minutes, and we still might not have enough minutes to go around. ------------------ president of the dan langhi fan club.

IMO for the 2001 draft, the Rocks will draft no better than 11th ( unless those magic lottery balls take a fortuitous bounce) and no worse than 15th. The Bucks pick which is owed will likely be very close to that (14 to 18 range). Here is a list of players in next years draft: CENTERS Loren Woods Wake Forest Brendan Haywood North Carolina Ken Johnson Ohio State Alvin Jones Georgia Tech Dan Gadzuric UCLA Steven Hunter DePaul POWER FORWARDS Troy Murphy Notre Dame Zac Randolph Michigan State Tyson Chandler Compton (CA) Dominguez H.S. Eddy Curry South Holland (IL) Thornwood H.S. Kaspars Kambala UNLV Brian Scalabrine USC SMALL FORWARDS Terence Morris Maryland Shane Battier Duke Jason Kapono UCLA Joe Johnson Arkansas Richard Jefferson Arizona Andrew Gooden Kansas That's 18 players. In the unlikely event NO SG or PG is taken before the Rockets select, then I project best case as the second player listed and worse case as the 3rd player listed at any position. With the addition of the SG's and PG's, this could make getting a 2 level player a very real possiblity even with the 15th pick. Next years draft is much deeper and it may be possible to trade up for the Rocks and Bucks pick. As I was writing this I had 2 thoughts. First, if we can get this caliber of player, maybe letting the 4.5m exception expire is not such a bad thing. It frees cap room for signing Shandon and Mo or (?Webber?). Secondly, if the Rocks are going to make a championship run in the next 2 or 3 years, the player drafted in this lottery will have to make a near immediate impact. And the luxury of having Mo for one season - if he doesn't produce maybe we wind up better than 11th pick (but I hope he produces - winning is a state of mind). ------------------ GATER
Actually, if my probability serves me correctly, (assuming we get pick 11-15) best case scenario says we get our choice of the top player on any of those lists. Worst case scenario says we get our choice between the worst player on each list. Of course that's assuming that things are totally random ------------------
