    Gonna use this thread again

Got the Selvaria DLC and beat it. Took me a while

Found out about the fact that it's actually "branched" and I only beat 1 branch of it....and it also has a hidden bonus mission that's unlockable

Working on unlocking it....this is so hard

Hey RC, have you seen the box art for the 360 version of FF13? ;)

That one just looks like a quick modification of the MGS4 one. I like this one better:

That actually looks REALLY cool. The larger binder-style CD case with different images on each DVD would be a great idea. I just find it crazy how many DVDs it would take to fit the information of the one blu-ray disc. Do you think the 360 version is going to use any type of compression for audio or video to make it more manageable capacity-wise? Dual layer DVDs, maybe?

Definitely. I found out later that of the 5GB of the demo, I believe ~4.5GB are the videos (CG in demo, plus 2-3 trailers IIRC). 1080p video with high bitrate can take up a lot of space I guess. They could lower the quality of both versions, but I don't know if they'd want to do that. Might use 720p for the 360 version or something. Don't know what their priorities are for the 360 version.

It actually sounded like they were contemplating whether to use a 25GB or 50GB Blu-ray disc. Doesn't really seem like much of an option to me. Multiple Blu-ray discs might even be possible, but they'd probably just scale back on the video/audio quality instead of doing that.

360 games are dual layer (~7GB for dual layer).

Are all those CD's for the game?

Man that Versus hero guy has that terrible emo haircut going on. I hate that style of hair.

Yeah, although remember that it is just a joke. They haven't actually shown off the 360 boxart (or even the PS3 boxart).

I think I remember them saying that they were still tweaking his design, although I think they already made those changes. Even if they didn't, I doubt they'd change his hair much, if at all.

I wish we had some more information on Versus. The atmosphere of that game seems so dark (which I think is awesome). I really like the direction they are taking both XIII and Versus in. They are both refreshing and unique, imo. I have been getting a little tired of the more fantasy-based worlds of the series. Something futuristic will be nice. Even in the past FF worlds that had futuristic technology, the feeling of a medieval/fantasy-based atmosphere still felt very pervasive to me.

I agree (although I'd like more info on both games). Of course, there has been some info given out from time to time. I sometimes don't pay that much attention since it is just bits and pieces, and the game is years away. Reminds me of that article about FF13 back in 2006 I believe. Talked about the story quite a bit, but I think I've forgotten everything that was in it more or less.

Only thing I can remember about Versus is that there is a world map. :)

(OK, maybe a little more, but not much).

edit: Oh yeah, forgot Wiki is a good source for all this sporadic info.

Man, I don't mind the main character being good looking because I just pretend that's me but there's just too many pretty boys in this game. Feels kind of N Sync-ish.

Which recent FF's haven't had a world map? I know some of them haven't, but I don't know which ones because I haven't played any of the newer FF games. Is XIII supposed to have a world map?

Basically the ones you didn't play (X, X-2, XII, don't know about XI).

I don't think XIII has a world map either.

Interesting. Do you think a lack of a world map in those games takes anything away from them? I always thought navigating the world map was sort of a fun adventure.

So, a little off-topic, but do you remember the Xenogears Perfect Works book? I used to own it when I was back in high school, but I sold it one of my summers home from college. Anyway, I guess someone recently started a project to scan all the pages in it, and then translate the text on the pages. He apparently finished and released it within this past week. I just found it by pure luck. Have you heard about this?

Not really. They are fun, like you said, but there are advantages and disadvantages to doing it either way IMO.

I did not know that (didn't even consider the possibility). Downloading now, or at least, I think I'm downloading what you're talking about. Thanks for the heads up.

No problem. I remember that book being lauded as the holy grail for Xenogears fans back in the day. I never actually thought it would be translated though, especially not 10 years after the game was originally released. (Maybe the Japanese PSN release sparked the translator's decision to take on the project?) That's why I was shocked when I came across the article saying the translated pages were released...and then I had to do a double-take when looking at the date of the article.

It was basically dumb luck for me to come across it. I was looking for a Xenogears wiki to refresh myself with the story since I was going to try to play through the game on an emulator (it appears my pc can't run the game correctly though).

Man, now I am going to want the game to appear on the PSN more than ever.

Wow, guess I need a HDTV when this game comes out.

Last week Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete went on sale in Japan. The Blu-ray CG animated movie brought with it something eagerly anticipated by Japanese gamers: the Final Fantasy XIII demo.

According to early software sales reports, the movie has been doing exceedingly well. It's reported to have sold over 100,000 copies in its first day alone.
