Sorry I know I'm late but I just read this thread and you only got Patterson for 10 mpg??? That's insane Patterson will be up there Chandler believe it or not he's a young vet...definately more than 10 mpg starteror not
All of the above is true lol, but with that being said no one on the roster comes close to Martin's offensive except Lamb of course but Martin's been the best player on this team perhaps the last 2 season easily capable of putting up 40+ points efficiently key word being "efficient"
LOL at those who think KMart is not the best player on this team. He was when we had Luis, Kyle and Goran and he still is. Too bad McHale does not know how to run plays to utilize KMart effectively.
One think I notice when trying to fill out lineup type minutes is that we don't have much in the way of wing defenders. I hope Lamb turns out to be a good defender otherwise Parsons is going to get really tired chasing the other team's best wing player around. Lack of wing defense becomes really obvious when you try to put Royce in the lineup. You really can't have Royce in the game without Parsons. I just think Royce is going to struggle defending NBA SF so he likely will be on the weaker offensive post player. Lineups with Royce are fun to make when your thinking offense but defense is tough. If it turns out that Jones can defend the 3 then things get interesting. MM can't defend the three or the four so he likely won't ever make it because he has no NBA skill that we can't get from other players who are better defenders. We have major depth issues at the 1 and 3 but Lamb/Martin/Parsons can rotate minutes while Lin rotates with guys I don't think are NBA quality. I hope Royce and Jones can steal some minutes at the 3. We are a Lin or Parsons injury away from being really bad. STARTERS - Shamelessly copied from LoyalRocket but I feel very confident that this is the starting lineup without a trade. Jeremy Lin (34) Kevin Martin (28) Chandler Parsons (34) Patrick Patterson (25) Omer Asik (25) ROLE PLAYERS Jeremy Lamb (25) Donatas Motiejunas (20) Terrence Jones (20) Royce White (14) Shaun Livingston (14) BENCH WARMERS Jon Brockman Toney Douglas
I think Jones can guard the 3, He's a big body who moves fairly well. Douglas, Parsons, Jones, (Not sure about our best defensive PF) and Asik is a solid defensive lineup.. but the worst offensive lineup in history
Starters: Jeremy Lin (34) Kevin Martin (32) Chandler Parsons (34) Patrick Patterson (23) Omer Asik (25) Bench: Jeremy Lamb (25) Terrence Jones (20) D.Mo (18) Toney Douglas (17) Royce White (12) End of the Bench: Shaun Livingston Marcus Morris Inactive List: Scott Machado JaJuan Johnson Gary Forbes
The only way I want Martin playing that many minutes is if we are showcasing for a trade. I don't care if he is our best player, he doesn't fit into our future plans. He might get us a few more wins this year, but I don't care about a couple more wins, I want Lamb to get experience and improve. I see a lot of versatility potential, so I'm not sure how the minutes play out. I see be midseason: Lin start PG Lamb start SG Asik start C D-Mo start at PF and backup C minutes Parsons start at SF with some backup SG minutes T Jones backing up 3,4 and in some cases 5 White backing up 3,4 and rare occasions maybe even PG Patterson will prob start the season out at 4, but I think will get jumped in playing time by all of the above. Not sure about Morris or who will step up and be back up PG or C when not D-Mo sliding over.
Here's a projected 10 man rotation, but I doubt McHale goes 10 deep. Probably 9 deep. PG - Lin (38), Douglas (10), Machado (spot) SG - Martin (23), Lamb (25) SF - Parsons (30), Martin (10), White/Morris (8) PF - Patterson (30), Motiejunas (18), White/Jones (spot) C - Asik (24), Smith (15), Motiejunas (9) 1 Lin 38 - We'll continue to feature PG play heavily, making it hard to sub him out 2 Martin 33 - May have to go small at SF to give Lamb floor time 3 Parsons 30 4 Patterson 30 - Will play better than many expect; can still beat rookies for now 5 Asik - Expect offensive shortcomings to force him to have fewer than fulltime minutes 6 Douglas 10 - the grizzled vet of the team 7 Lamb 25 - 6th man, instant offense 8 Motiejunas 27 - Need to go small at center sometimes to get floor time and to cover offensive shortcomings of Asik 9 Morris 8 - it'll be either White or Morris on the active roster, not both 10 Smith 15 - When size and offense are both needed at center 11 Machado 0 12 Shaun Livingston 0 13 White 0 14 Jones 0 15 Somebody else 0
You watched too much Linsanity, there is a reason he didn't stick with 4 NBA teams. Martin (while not having a great year) is still our best player, and that is why we are not going to win many games, but he is still very far and away our best player as of now.
those minutes were based on games played in. all those guys will not play every night. like I said a 8 man rotation is likely IMO.
Starters: PG - Jeremy Lin SG - Kevin Martin SF - Chandler Parsons PF - Patrick Patterson C - Omer Asik Bench: Jeremy Lamb - SG Donatas Motiejunas - PF/C Terrence Jones - PF Royce White - F Toney Douglas - PG Marcus Morris - SF JaJuan Johnson - PF/C Inactive List: Scott Machado - PG Jon Brockman - F Shaun Livingston - PG/SG
Marcus Morris disagrees with you. http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...is-plans-all-out-effort-to-earn-playing-time/
Clutchfans are fickle as hell when it comes to Marcus Morris. Last year everyone was calling Morris the next Paul Pierce. This year Morris is a scrub. Reading these fan comments makes me want to support this guy. Good luck Morris.
You're insane. If the Rockets could have gotten a lotto pick for Martin they would have jumped on it by now. This guy is a special scorer but everyone knows he gives it all back on the other end of the court. Scola could score AND rebound, Lowry could score AND make plays AND defend, same with Dragic. Anyone that thinks Martin has ever been our best player doesn't care or understand much about anything in basketball other than scoring. Still, I'd actually be pretty happy if he were now our best player. That would mean we're an awful team on our way to a really high lotto pick while inflating Martin's numbers for trade purposes.
