Anyone that has a problem with this documentary getting made has clearly not read Douglas Adams.

Can we somehow make these dolphins domesticated.. They won't live in captivity like at the zoo or sea world but as one of us living together harmoniously.. I can turn my backyard into their natural habitat with real seawater.. I'll refill and change the water every 2 weeks and feed them their natural food... I will take care of them, play with them as if I would take care of my own child....
If we can somehow find a way to adopt them and let it pass through congress we can help stop the slaughter in Japan, would that work?

Eating big brained mammals is weird -- like hunting chimps or gorillas.

I once had a dream that I was at a bar playing pool against a dolphin. The bar was real shady and there were other dolphins with him while I was alone. It kept getting more and more tense and eventually the dolphins surrounded me and looked to be getting ready to jump me. I woke up about that time and ever since have had trust issues with our seagoing mammal neighbors.

well horses are pretty smart but there is not much controversy there when we ship them for slaughter.

This was an inspirational documentary... to lead a revolt against Japan and their dumb ass whale killing. Pretty good documentary, definitely deserved the Oscar.

    Just saw it this morning.

Great film. I even donated some money to the cause.

freaking PETA complaining about slaughtering horses in the US and a law was passed making it illegal. now, they are all shipped to mexico and some guy with a machete hacks them up brutally down their spine. i would rather we just slaughter them cause at least we do it a little more humanely. i don't think we are chopping away with a machete here in the states. that is one of the most f-ed up things i ever saw...besides the brutality of the dolphin killing fiasco. thanks, PETA! you saved them there horses for slaughter for a place that cannot afford to do it humanely and could really give a crap.

I just saw this for the first time on Netflix, and couldn't believe my eyes. The stuff I saw was almost unbearable and caused me to turn it off. Not many movies can bring tears to my eyes, but this one did, multiple times. I actually made a donation and signed the petition. Hopefully one day this will end, but that is hard to imagine.....

    A bit I read online:

What has been the effect on sales of dolphin and whale meat since The Cove?
We do know that 2010 sales of the mercury laced meat was down 30 percent.

What happened to the captive dolphins during the recent earthquake and tsunami?
Although Taiji is miles away from the epicenter of the earthquake, there were swells washing over this coastal town. We heard that all 24 dolphins being kept in sea pens in the harbor died as they were thrashed against the rocky coastline.

    The Results
It’s been working. The film has been making waves since it premiered last year. Critical praise and audience awards worldwide have focused international attention on Taiji and the annual dolphin drives off the coast of Japan. Under intense pressure, Taiji called for a temporary ban on killing bottlenose dolphins in 2009. The film, originally rejected at the Tokyo Film Festival, was eventually shown due to public outcry, and has appeared in theaters in Japan. Residents in Taiji are being tested for mercury poisoning, and for the first time Japanese media are covering the issue.

1.4MM people have signed the petition to end the slaughter, but this is just the beginning. The hunt still goes on. Find out what you can do to help.
