I'm hoping Lamb isn't included in a deal. We're looking at our future shooting guard, in my opinion. All he needs is seasoning, and adding some muscle to his frame. Lamb has everything else.
I'd rather watch this team and the rookies/new players develop (if they develop) than bring Dwight Howard here knowing he's already stated he doesn't want to come here. I sure hope they don't trade our new draft picks in any deal this year.
based on Morey's comments about vets, do you like the idea of Scola staying on board to mentor the other 7 PFs. it's funny...the media says the NY Knicks got Kidd to mentor Lin...and they really have no chance to compete for a Title. Yet, we won't keep Scola to mentor our PFs, because we need to get rid of everyone. I want to keep Scola. Can we please keep him?
scola's the ultimate competitor.....i'd think he needs at least 25-30min a game, not to mention a chance for a title before he hangs up his jersey.....plus he makes a huge salary to just sit on the bench, plus we already have 13 other PF's on the roster who need some burn.. also agree completely with DoD, would much prefer to see lamb and motiejuanas develop than get howard (or bynum)
I like guys that we draft. I'm drawn to the whole homegrown thing. I was spoiled with Dream. The Drexler trade felt right because Drexler was always a Houston boy and should have been a rocket from the beginning. I never really liked the Barkley trade because of who we were were giving up. I hope we keep our guys and one of develops into a stud.
I think there is a powerful argument to do just that. I could certainly be persuaded. It seems Alexander wants a "star," a "name" to sell to the fans. He shows little interest, as best I can tell, in waiting to develop those players through the draft, and by dealing for young players. Sure, he's all for acquiring young players and picks, but he wants that "star(s)" in the meantime. In a lot of ways, Alexander mimics much of what we read on the board, IMO. Many people here don't want to wait on players to develop, but would rather trade them for established "names" and then watch some other team go to the trouble of seeing how those we dealt turn out. Building a successful contending team is an inexact science. If it weren't, everyone would be doing it. An argument can be made for every tactic one can imagine, and we can imagine a great deal. I can imagine Lamb being an All Star. Can Morey? Can Alexander? Are they willing to wait, and see if that happens?
That's how I feel .. as a kid I started really getting into the game during Phi Slamma Jamma .. I'll never forget how exciting it was to draft Akeem onto the home team.I also hated the Barkley trade and found the games horrible to watch .. The thing I remember most from that period was just Barkley putting his big ass on someone and backing it in forever while everyone watched .
The Raptors and Hornets are gonna be sorry for passing up this dude. He has better upside then Ross and while he doesn't have the one on one skills that Rivers has he can score within the offense instead of going one on one to get his poins while the offense stalls and his teammates just stand there.
I am on the fence. Howard is a nice haul and would be willing to give up a lot to get him. While Houston may not be a target city for Howard, I don't think any of his target cities will have cap space to outright sign him after this season. That said, I really like Lamb even though I really didn't pay too much attention to him in college. He is the player I think is the most valuable to the Rockets at moment. I find this very sad.
Agreed - Lamb moves well without the ball, reminds me a little of Richard Hamilton, or even Budinger for that matter.
? Martin's defining quality is FTAs. Lamb, while a good FT shooter, does not generate the attempts that Martin does. Lamb excels at hitting a high percentage of 2 point shots.
Lamb should ball hogg the whole summer league to show the world that his ncaa championship wasn't a flute where he road the coat-tail of kemba walker into the nba.
