I'm still trying to figure out what part about Aliens coming to South Africa and being held against their will in Ghettos (like Jews in Nazi occupied Europe) is at all similar to Independence Day
Then you totally missed the point of independance day man...... Seriously though, aside from the massive ship hovering overhead I don't see the comparision either.
And the big alien ship hovering over the city....otherwise, I'd say it's quite different from ID4. This looks more about the government trying to gain control of the alien technology, than aliens destroying the earth.
This movie is going to be much better than ID4 -- besides alien ships coming to earth there is no real similarity.
I wish they had some new trailers out though...they keep showing the same one and I'm kind of growing tired of it.
I would like to nominate Neill Blomkamp to replace the departing Michael Bay to add some life to an already stale Transformers franchise.
I hope so too because I haven't even seen the first one yet, but I would love for there to be talks of a sequel to something I havent seen yet!
It's not too uncommon in Hollywood for a movie deal for a sequel to be made before the preceding movie is released, ie the deal for the sequel to The Hang Over was signed before the original was released

WOW, can't believe I didn't even know about this movie, looks great to me. Too bad I'll be in a third world country when it comes out......
Sleeper hit blockbuster of the late summer, I called it right here. Positive word is spreading like wildfire and it will ignite the box office especially considering its been a more than a month since a decent summer blockbuster (Transformers 2). I am going saturday night cant wait. BTW Peter needs a makeover, for a freakin oscar winning director he looks like hobo!
As far as I know its been out since early July. I didn't hear of it though until this thread. Here in San Diego, I've only found one theatre showing it and I'm going to see it soon before its gone.
