I feel the same way about Kerry and how he can't fight like a man against Bush, who might have been beatable a few months ago. Playing defense the whole time has screwed his chances.

I don't get this joke. Or is it even supposed to be a joke? Somebody posted this last week and I didn't understand it then either.

    2000 primaries.

Bush camp did a push-polling phone campaign in South Carolina against McCain asking potential voters if they'd be "more or less likely to vote for McCain if they knew he fathered a black child out of wedlock."

The black child he fathered out of wedlock was actually his adopted Bangledeshi daughter.

Except that Backe plays for the GH Bush's hometown and one of GW Bush's favorite teams and did this to a team from the battleground state of Ohio so clearly this is an indication of how low regard that the Bush family holds the hardworking decent folks of Ohio!

But wait maybe the Kerry people got to the Reds pitcher to give Backe a fat pitch to make the Bushes look bad!

I see a conspiracy here of monstrous proportions!

Well I would say that Bush's ex sister in law is a credible source.

Has someone claimed that she wasn't there?

The Republicans brought this on theirselves. It is war now.

I know good hearted folks will claim let Bush win with lies and smears and don't stoop too low. Let poor American kids and Muslims die because the Democrats should just act like a mild mannered debating society. Let Gingrich and Hernry Hyde and Livingston acts shocked about Clinton's adultery when they did it, too. This stuff is not so fun when two play the game.

Here's a witness to the Godly Bush having his girl firiend haveing an abortion.

Lies move Democrats to dig up dirt (SUSAN ESTRICH)

My Democratic friends are mad as hell, and they aren't going to take it any more.

They are worried, having watched as another August smear campaign, full of lies and half-truths, takes its toll in the polls.

They are frustrated, mostly at the Kerry campaign, for naively believing that just because all the newspapers and news organizations that investigated the charges of the Swift Boat assassins found them to be full of lies and half-truths, they wouldn't take their toll. The word on the street is that Kerry was ready to fire back the day the story broke, but that his campaign, believing the charges would blow over if they ignored them, counseled restraint.

But most of all, activist Democrats are angry. As one who lived through an August like this, 16 years ago - replete with rumors that were lies, which the Bush campaign claimed they had nothing to do with and later admitted they had planted - I'm angry, too. I've been to this movie. Lies move numbers.

Remember the one about Dukakis suffering from depression after he lost the governorship? We lost six points over that lie, planted by George W.'s close friend and colleague in the 1988 campaign, Lee Atwater. Or how about the one about Kitty Dukakis burning a flag at an anti-war demonstration, another out-and-out lie, which the Bush campaign denied having anything to do with, except that it turned out to have come from a United States senator via the Republican National Committee? Atwater later apologized to me for that, too, on his deathbed. Did I mention that Lee's wife is connected to the woman running the Swift Boat campaign?

What do you do, Democrats keep asking each other.

The answer is not pretty, but everyone knows what it is.

The trouble with Democrats, traditionally, is that we're not mean enough. Too much is at stake to play by Dukakis' rules and lose again. That is the conclusion Democrats have reached. So watch out. Millions of dollars will be on the table. And there are plenty of choices for what to spend it on.

Will it be the three, or is it four or five, drunken driving arrests that Bush and Cheney, the two most powerful men in the world, managed to rack up?

After Vietnam, nothing is ancient history, and Cheney is still drinking. What their records suggest is not only a serious problem with alcoholism, which Bush but not Cheney has acknowledged, but also an even more serious problem of judgment.

What if Bush were to fall off the wagon? Then what? Has America really faced the fact that we have an alcoholic as our president?

Or how about Dead Texans for Truth, highlighting those who served in Vietnam instead of the privileged draft-dodging president, and ended up as names on the wall instead of members of the Air National Guard.

Or maybe it will be Texas National Guardsmen for Truth, who can explain exactly what George W. Bush was doing while John Kerry was putting his life on the line. Perhaps with money on the table, or investigators on their trail, we will learn just what kind of wild and crazy things the president was doing while Kerry was saving a man's life, facing enemy fire and serving his country.

Or could it be George Bush's Former Female Friends for Truth. A forthcoming book by Kitty Kelley raises questions about whether the president has practiced what he preaches on abortion. As Larry Flynt discovered, a million dollars loosens lips. Are there others to be loosened?

Are you shocked? Remember Dukakis? Now he teaches at Northeastern University. John Kerry has been very fair in dealing with the Swift Boat charges. That's why so many of my Democrat friends have decided to stop talking to the campaign, and start putting money together independently.

The arrogant little Republican boys who strutted around New York this week, claiming that they have this one won, would do well to take a step back. It could be a long and ugly road to November.

Uh... What country are you from? Cocaine was made illegal without a doctor's prescription by the Harrison Act of 1914.

good call. what i was thinkng of was that it wasn't even considered addictive or harmful back then. the only reason it was made illegal was because it was mistakenly labeled as a narcotic along with morphine and opium.

    my point still stands.

and BTW.... whether W snorted blow or not 30 years ago will play little role in who i'm gonna vote for. i just wanted to explain my experiences in regards to the issue at hand.

I am a self admitted conservative Republican. I have two children and a conservative wife.

I used to do a little coke.

    I used to smoke weed.

****, I'd probably still smoke weed if I could find the time.

I could not give a smaller **** if I knew for a fact that W. did coke back in the day. I didn't care when Clinton did weed and I don't care. That stuff is a long time ago and Bush didn't build his campaign around it.

The old Republicans need to hurry up and start dying because the future of our party are not a bunch of stodgy old men in smoking jackets that carry a bible around our Lincoln Towncars.

    Several points:
    1. Kitty Kelly is a known gossip mongerer and smear artist and this is just another pathetic attempt by the left to tar and feather GWB. This baseless allegation has been "reported" before. First it was all of these stupid books by the neo-Bolsheviks who still have their precious panties in a bunch their lefty icon Snore lost the 2000 election. Then we get that b*stard Bolshevik Michael "Supersize it" Moore making his hit piece masquerading as a documentary. Now this?

    2. The desperation is hilarious, guys. I am laughing at the pathetic depths you whiners have plunged to, consumed by your irrational hatred of GWB. If it weren't so perverse, it would almost be funny.

    3. Guys, I find it hilarious that your side always b****es and moans about "dirty" or "negative" politics when your side has been engaging in it for this entire campaign and even beforehand. In fact, your party invented "tell as many lies as possible and hope some stick." Bill Clinton and his team of Begala/Carville were the masters of baseless accusation. But heaven forbid the GOP fight fire with fire. It's dirty campaigning then. It's "partisanship." You people make me sick.

Please name one dirty negative ad that distorts Bush's record put out by the Kerry campaign.

I've named several that the Bush campaign has put out that are dishonest about Kerry's record.

I even started a thread inorder to give the Bush side an opportunity to list the distortions Kerry has made about Bush's record. There wasn't one reply. Until you have some facts on your side, your argument doesn't hold much water.

so are you saying you dont think GWB did cocaine back in his youth? because that's the only thing i'm talking about.

give me some reasons as to why you believe him and i'll listen. but shutup with this "your side vs. our side dirty politics" bullsh!t. the thread is about his alleged cocaine use, try to leave it at that.

You're really starting to crack me up, bama. It's like you're trying to out Trader_J, Trader_J... and can't find the occasional humor Trader_J is at least capable of putting out from time to time. Maybe you're trying too hard. Here's the "source" for your post on the previous page... looks like an RNC publication, not a credible news outlet:

Brinkley: Navy Probe Could Doom Kerry Campaign

Sen. John Kerry's campaign biographer Douglas Brinkley said Sunday that if an ongoing Navy investigation into Kerry's military decorations turns up evidence of "purposeful" deception, it could spell doom for the top Democrat's White House bid.

Praising reporter Thomas Lipscomb, who broke news of the Navy investigation on Friday, Brinkley told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg, "Journalists are going to have to see whether there's a discrepancy on [the citations posted to Kerry's] Web site - whether there's something wrong that's said there or not."

    Story Continues Below

"If so," said the "Tour of Duty" author, "Kerry would have to fix it immediately - and it does raise some questions as to why that would happen."
"Is it sloppiness, is it purposeful intent, is there an easy explanation for it?" Brinkley wondered.

He said that while questions raised by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth about Kerry's war record have been very damaging, "so far they haven't been lethal." But Brinkley predicted that a discrepancy with Kerry's medals could seriously escalate his political problems.

Asked if inconsistencies uncovered by the Navy probe could be the "death knell" for Kerry's campaign, Brinkley told Malzberg, "It could."

In the next breath he hastened to add, however: "Right now it's unclear. So we have to just wait to see what all this adds up to."

The presidential historian called on Kerry to authorize the release of his full military file, saying, "Clearly some of these military records should be made available to the press."

I already did! Michael Moore's flick was a 2-hour "I-hate-Bush" negative ad. What about all of the so-called "independent" garbage spewed by Moveon.org and the rest of the Bolshevik Bush-hating looney bin 527's that are behind Kerry 100 percent? Bush has not been dishonest about SKerry's record as soft on defense and as a man who couldn't stick to one position if his life depended on.

And Deck, if Brinkley said it ON THE FRIGGIN' RADIO, it is damned credible. God you people are ridiculous. This whole cocaine deal (brought up in 2000) proves you people have lapsed into some kind of mutually shared insanity that if not involved in an election, would be hilarious. Your side has become a SNL sketch. What next, Bush hate kids and starves old people? Bush twins get into lesbian orgies? Laura ran over somebody's dog with the family SUV?
