The point is that there is a positive correlation between defensive effort and number of defensive fouls received. One who never plays defense, rarely gets fouls---let alone foul out. In other words, TMac is rarely (if ever) at risk of fouling out due to lack of effort.

I would agree if TMac was putting up 13pts in 35 seconds. Unfortunately, his numbers as of late rather dismal.

Couldn't you read? The reason I said it's pointless because this so-called point is based on flawed logic.

I gave you an example how Hakeem emerged to become the greatest defensive player of all time by fouling LESS.

Fouling machine = great defensive player? Right. Who fouls the most in the NBA?....let me check...Oh it's Mike Dunleavy. What a great defensive player he is.

It's obvious that TMac lacked the defensive effort recently. But saying he sucks based on the claim that he CAN'T foul out is flat out ridiculous.

man stfu. it's annoying reading ur posts. you're just restating wht u said b4.

he's merely saying there's a positive correlation between defensive effort and the number of fouls one get. John Hollinger would agree.

I think all he/she is trying to ask is if Tracy is willing to get down and dirty. The fouling out is an extreme to illustrate a point, not exactly the measurement of excellent defense. That would be a Youtube hit to see someone eat a basketball if Tracy fouled out lol.

Come on, I know this is a not good thread, but it has a point, do you have any data for the numbers of Tmac who was fouled out since he joined the rockets, if there was no one, then at least that was not good indication for a NBA player. It does not mean Tmac is not great player, but suggests that he may play softly at least.

LOL. nice. more T-mac bashing. lol. eat the basketball. that's a funny thought...

yeah, he fouled out, but you have to admit, some of those fouls were boneheaded, and GAVE AWAY free throws.

i believe the title you were looking for is " fight like a real man, you scared coward!" And it should have been devoted to hayes getting inside K.G's head.

let's calm down. the OP said he/she was just kidding..... just the thought is flawed, however.....some of the most horrible players on defense do just that FOUL alot.

we may not have the mcgrady of two years ago, but take that mcgrady and he will be better than any ron artest anyday....take mcgrady from orlando? and it's gonna be Ron Artest who?

it would make sense that artest would get more fouls as he is guarding the other team's best player most of the time... paul pierce, kobe, dwade, lebron, etc. will not settle for long jumpers.. they'll get you into foul trouble by being aggresive and driving to the hoop... if the guy you're guarding is being passive and/or not driving to the basket then of course you would have a less likely chance of getting into foul trouble... having said that i do think that tmac needs to step it up on the defensive end.. no way should that kid he was guarding in the Philly game blow right past him like that

I don't wanna comment about Tmac.

The fouls Artest committed was showing his toughness and effort in the game.
He went for the ball hard. Boxing out hard. Doing stuff physically.

Some plays might be a bit dirty but he really adds the toughness that Houston needs.

not unless the game is on the line. cmon, you know he always guards the best player in the playoffs down the stretch. remember when he gave dirk fits? or when he blocked boozer? he plays defense, but when he is at full health he is a much more offensive minded player, that doesn't excuse lackluster defense, but don't say he isn't capable of playing it
